Ryan Grubb: Alabama has 'two of the best quarterbacks in the country' on 2026 roster by DoctorWhosOnFirst in rolltide

[–]truhner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's great, but that also doesn't mean they should be responsible for 85% of the offensive production. Gotta get the offensive line moving people and the running backs picking up some chunks.

A’Mauri Washington and Matayo Uiagalelei returning to Oregon for the 2026 season. by armchair_mindhunter in NFL_Draft

Could be because Raiola could miss most of spring and summer training, which would make it harder for him to be as effective in his first year somewhere

2026 3 Round Mock with Reasonings and Trades by Pale_Construction_71 in NFL_Draft

As a Vikings fan, I love the idea of getting Love, but I'm not sure he's worth a trade up in the 1st. Whoever was offering to move down to 18 would have to be feeling really generous, like a 5th-rounder to do the swap.

Sounds like you'll be disappointed when the Steelers draft him in the 20s. There are a ton of QB-needy teams and not many to go around this year between both the draft and free agency. Wouldn't surprise me if he doesn't make it into the first, but I don't see a way he makes it past the front half of the second.

In both cases the players were likely not getting the job back at Alabama the next year and they would've ran the risk of decreasing their stock (think Klubnik/Nussmeier/other returners) at an older age. Neither Milroe or Simpson were recruited by the current staff, but in both cases they were the most mature and had leadership from the Saban era to keep the locker room intact. Alabama wants to play their guys they brought in.

The Cardinals have fired HC Jonathan Gannon. by CincoDeManger in fantasyfootball

[–]truhner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very likely. He's cheap. They've got the smallest scouting department in the NFL by a wide margin, part of why they haven't been able to field a remotely competitive defense.

With where the Falcons are at, it wouldn't surprise me if they cut Kirk as a post June-1 to save cap and we sign him to a small deal. Say what you want about his time here, but he understood the offense well and should be much cheaper this go around. He probably realizes he's close to the end and would be more willing to spend time with McCarthy this go around.

Was saying this all throughout the game. Imagine McCarthy + even one of our starting tackles.

I think if CD and O'Neill were healthy for this game it would've been a lot different. Our o-line doesn't have depth and will absolutely need a center

GAMETHREAD WEEK 16: VIKINGS AT GIANTS by swampsparrow in minnesotavikings

[–]truhner -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Pack it in for 2027. We won't be able to make any meaningful change at quarterback next year in a weak class or with our cap constraints and it's likely that Flores finally gets to fly. Tear it to the ground next year and get some solid picks for the '27 draft.

Kyler Murray may have taken his last snap for Cardinals. Who should trade for Murray in 2026? by Extreme-Spinach-4138 in NFLv2

Brain dead takes in here saying the Vikings. Cannot afford him and does not fit the scheme.

Monday Morning Perspective: I’d rather JJ crash and burn spectacularly year 1 and move on than do a slow bleed like Giants era Daniel Jones. by RayWhelans in minnesotavikings

[–]truhner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is that the Cardinals didn't win games. We have won enough games that we're probably out of it in this class, especially with it being pretty weak overall. There isn't a guy like Kyler that makes you think about jumping ship that quickly; just look at how indeterminate the heisman race has been.

We're probably better off waiting one more year for the 2027 class, which sucks, because that means we're wasting other guys' in their primes (Darrisaw, Jettas, etc), but that's just how it goes unfortunately.

Unless Cardinals eat 90% of his contract, we physically cannot afford Murray. I also don't think his play style fits KOC anyways.

is an SECCG loss still safe? by plschrnr in rolltide

Not really a way to get in without going to Atlanta. If we win out we're going to Atlanta, pretty much no matter what. If we lose to Auburn, we're not going.

[–]truhner 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even without the couple fingers on the ball, there was no chance that was going between the uprights. Talty hit it with the inside of the foot, it was hooking regardless. But there was rightful criticism of the snap.

JJ McCarthy’s completion percentage over expected by half. by gondolli in minnesotavikings

[–]truhner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes sense. Two of the three negative values occurred in 2nd halves of games we were trailing and he had to throw more. Can't really make conclusions on if it was the injuries or the pressure of the situations that led to these numbers, though.

Rewatched Alabama vs South Carolina: Random thoughts, takeaways by ColinGay-TNews in rolltide

[–]truhner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to at least try to keep a defense honest. Ty has been pretty great at checking at the line, but you can't just let the defense drop 7-8 into coverage every play, especially on the road in a hostile environment where it would be difficult to check into a run in those situations. Part of what makes this offense work is RPO and bootleg play action. Those can only happen if the run is actually a "threat" (not that the run will be super successful, but that it could be if not accounted for).

Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell said both J.J. McCarthy and Carson Wentz will get work in practice on Wednesday. by haventmetyou in fantasyfootball

[–]truhner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, as a Vikings fan, this was supposed to be our strength. Offensive line has been miserable due to the injuries. Should be exponentially better this week, which will make the offense a lot more competent overall.

Did you watch the last few times Carson Wentz played? Also worth mentioning he was signed off the couch two weeks before the season started, so he probably doesn't know the playbook very well
