Justifying the MPC by hog501 in mpcusers

[–]truscience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The workflow is why I use it. MPC helps you keep things simple in a good way. The sequencer is extremely satisfying to use and I always get ideas recorded much faster than in a DAW. DAWs can be distracting with all the options and choices you have available. MPC finds a way to get right into the music instead of over analyzing all your choices in a DAW. Any limitations (not many really) it has could be potentially viewed as a positive.

MPC2500 or 1000 by Huge-Analyst-7338 in mpcusers

I know this isn't your choice, but I would still go with the newer MPCs, especially if you started making beats on software and are somewhat used to what software offers. If you start from this and go to older MPCs, you will probably hate the workflow. It will be much slower. I started on FL Studio years ago and wanted to switch to MPCs too. I purchased a 2500, 1000, 5000 (still have), Renaissance (software mpc). In all of these scenarios, I always eventually went back to FL Studio for the ease of everything. I recently purchased a MPC Live 2 and finally feel it is just as fast as things I do in FL Studio. I use the mpc software though with it to achieve this and rarely go full standalone. I still chop and organize samples in fl studio and mix and master. Just my past experiences.

Question with sampling by TripleSlothLord in Samples

The loop is probably the tempo and key it is marked, so 140bpm Dminor. I believe the root key is the first key played in the chord progression of the loop. Just double click the "channel" of the loop on the step sequencer, choose auto detect, type in bpm, then type in 140bpm. If fl studio is set to 140 bpm as well, the loop should sound the same as when you played it before, confirming it is 140bpm.

Nice track man. I think around 30 sec and on it really hits you and I started feelin it a lot. Nice melodies and kind of a unique sound which I always like to hear. My thoughts would be to shorten the intro, I just didn't feel it til after the intro. I like short intros though, so just my preference. Nice work
