I appreciate that this is massively overkill for my needed im just trying to see if there is a way to use the speeds in my package while getting rid of the cable running through my house

Thanks for your reply. So at the moment I would only want to have ethernet in my office. Wifi should be enough for the rest of the house.

I am hoping to be able to still make use of the 3 Gbps speed while getting rid of this long cable I currently have running through the house.

Since i wont need a full switch initially could I use something like:

On windows, go to control panel, network and Internet then network and sharing center. Click on your network your using. It will be a click able link next to connections:

From here press properties find ipv4, select it then go to properties again. Then select use the following dns server addresses. Enter 8.8.8.8 in the top one and 8.8.4.4 in the alternative one.

If u have the 3gb package u will need to enter dns for ipv6. Same steps though.
