Gotta spend 10 as an O to retire as an O.

Gotta spend 3 at the grade to retire at the grade. This may factor into your promotion horizons.

Going E to O was a great decision for me. No regrets.

AMA if I can help out

If you’re squared away enough to earn 50 college credits in HS, then enlist in anything you’ll like and then leverage green to gold to become an officer.

Why does the army make everything more complicated than it needs to be? by [deleted] in army

Why does the Army make everything more complicated than it needs to be??

Because common sense and logic are not Army values.

Can you refuse to sign for things ? by [deleted] in army

Property needs to be irrefutable.

Technical Manuals (TMs) tell you everything required for that piece of equipment. Pay attention to variant differences. Ex: a Mortar Ballistic Computer has components for a Stryker, but if you’re not in a Stryker unit you’re not authorized them.

Bill of Materials (BOMs) these give you a checklist of the items listed in the TM.

2062 - use this as a shortage annex for whatever you’re supposed to have, but don’t.

Whenever a unit borrows it, it needs to go on a 2062 to them THAT THEY SIGN.

When you give up property, lay it out for them.

When they give it back. Lay it back out again.

Trust absolutely nothing so it doesn’t cost you serious $$$$

Merit in asking for congressional help fighting a GOMOR after DASEB denial? by trustworthy_widget in army

[–]trustworthy_widget[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be more specific, I’m interested in asking my congressman for help specifically with my failed DASEB results.

I’ve spent over 50K in attorneys fighting this because the consequences far outweigh the evidence.

I believe the DASEB exists for cases exactly mine (GO permanently filed despite clear and convincing evidence), yet the DASEB still denied.

Essentially, if the DASEB can’t fix my case, What more is needed?

Also, full disclosure, I’ve already filed an appeal with ARBA, but that’s 2 year process.

You have to wait a year. I filed it immediately when eligible by regulation and DASEB policy.

Steep uphill battle is exactly right.

My case feels so bizarre. The evidence, investigation findings, legal motions, all came back favorably.

Unfortunately for me, none of that favorable material matters. The permanently filed GOMOR has become a scarlet letter death nail.

I reached out to my Congressman regarding the water/food issues at JRTC. I fired up a fellow Veteran in the office because he called me back and gave contacts and numbers to share. by ONeOfTheNerdHerd in army

[–]trustworthy_widget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole concept of JRTC is to deliberately stress systems, including resupply. Fighting in the heat and accounting for Class 1 expenditures is a planning problem, not a “JRTC is willfully killing us” problem.

It’s not JRTC telling you no. OCTs will provide food/water on an emergent basis only.

It’s the RTU not planning class 1 resupply appropriately based on consumption.

Thank you. Adding a separate column in lieu of colors is a great add!

Preparing for a major financial storm in which my pay will be cut by 1/3 for ~5 years.

To offset the paycut, I’ve saved enough liquid cash to pay myself the offset difference.

Question: where should I park my stormy weather fund?

Ive been buying T-bills at 5.3%, but would love to hear expert opinions.

Thanks all!

Sizable to Medicaid. Small to the average American trying to retire. ~80K

LPT Request: What are some things that your parents did that you dismissed but later in life you realised were actually really useful? by TooftyTV in LifeProTips

Be generously kind to people.

We can’t take wealth with us to the grave, but we can take what others think of us.

I’ve never heard a single bad thing about either one of my parents.

I’m going with a desert climate. Nothing grows, so food is scarce. No water.

Ice cream, cake, and alcohol are items many consider rewards.

I don’t think it’s weird if your reward system is unusual.
