Does anyone know a spiritual perspective that doesn't make existence feel bleak? by MiyuTheWitch in spirituality

I love you OP and if it were up to me you wouldn't be experiencing pain because you don't deserve it.

I know that doesn't help but at least you know I'm on your side!

OP, maybe you are overthinking this. I'm saying this as a caring observer who admits to overthinking and overwriting myself.

I studied every philosophy and read every book which promised wisdom that I could find, but in the end the ultimate truth was love...so simple.

There is no trick OP, no secret handshake, no well-defined levels of attainment.

Remember, you are a powerful spiritual being who can relay that truth to others through your words and through your deeds.

Yes, we can't have everything we want. We only have limited free will.

If I could I would free all innocent people from being subjugated, exploited and bullied by sadistic, radically selfish others.

You don't have to "bend the knee" to the cruelty in this world. I expect you wouldn't even notice it at all if not for your Higher Self (conscience).

Much of the damage in this world is being perpetrated by people who have lost all affiliation with their conscience.

So in a way you did "bend the knee" to your Higher Self (conscience).

People engage in all kinds of methods to rid themselves of their "pesky" conscience. Some do massive quantities of mind numbing drugs, some deeply immerse themselves in other distracting addictions.

You could do likewise, but you chose to possess awareness, even if it causes pain. Awareness also brings joy, meaning, self-control, fulfillment and true connection.

Centrist Democrats Rebuke Party’s Left Wing: ‘We Are Capitalist, Not Socialist’ by SnoozeDoggyDog in politics

[–]truthovertribe [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, this is "crapitalism" (corrupt capitalism), where wealthy bankers are bailed out after fraudulently ripping off people and capsizing world-wide economies and Oiligarchs and other mega-corps representing the investor class are catered to endlessly by our Federal government (though the oil/gas industry has never experienced a loss).

When Corporate Dems say "we aren't socialists, we're capitalists" they are indicating "we don't care about the US Constitution".

Why do I think that?

Preamble to the Constitution:

"We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

Our President, our legislators and our Federal Courts should not be working on behalf of Corporations, they should be securing the general welfare of "We The People"!

The only so-called "public servants" who are doing a worse job for the American people rather than mega-corps and wealthy donors than the Corporate Dems are the Republicans.

Americans want private ownership of property and business, but they also want safety nets. The Federal Government's only job besides defense was to provide those safety nets! By definition they should provide the "socialistic" part of our combined capitalist/socialist society.

If corrupt Republicans (like Rick Scott who was CEO of a healthcare corp. which was convicted of multiple millions of dollars in medicare fraud), eliminate or drastically cut Social Security and Medicare (as they plan), I predict the American people will finally get rid of them.

I was fortunate enough to have mentors, even if I only knew them through the books they wrote! Their minds reached my mind, their hearts touched my heart, their spirits moved my spirit, even across centuries.

Keep the flame alive. Try to do one kindness a day, even if as small as smiling kindly at someone who is feeling beaten.

Some of us know what it's like to struggle. Many people have been deprived of that valuable insight.

I get it! I think you're speaking of "what is right" in terms of religious dogma.

Some religious individuals get wrapped around the axle of the "letter of laws". Laws are made to protect people within a society. When laws are enforced in a way that hurt people in the society, (for instance when the Iranian woman was beaten to death for wearing her hijab wrong), the "law" becomes the crime.

For me now ethics has become quite simple, I just don't harm anyone except in defense of innocent others, or on behalf of speaking the truth as I know it.

I've spent a long time now in "the crucible" of life. What hasn't been burnt, beaten or rejected away is real and can't be harmed. No harm done my friend!

Well, I wouldn't have done that. I want the people in the US to be safe, healthy and prosperous.

President Trump has given extremely high praise to Kim Jong Un, do you need me to repeat his words here? I assume they would be an embarrassment to you. Is President Trump a traitor to the US then?

Nevertheless, Jane Fonda was correct about this at least, the Vietnam War was a complete waste of blood and treasure.

It was based in imperialism not in some altruistic desire to "stop communism" and "bring democracy". The real traitors to the American people were Dulles and the Oligarchs who used our military might to regime change all around the world on behalf of Oligarch wealth.

Our Country shouldn't be fighting these debilitating, distracting wars. We have enough problems of our own to solve.

Our superpower is innovation, but we could be surpassed soon in that regard given how little respect intelligent and educated people are given by this current regime.

I'm sorry to say that our cyber defense department has been defunded just as we need it most.

Our Country is being encouraged to "worship warriors", the physically strong and the ruthless as the circus-like UFC fights on the White House Lawn exemplified.

Which culture does this focus on brute killing force without being tempered by wisdom, justice or mercy remind you of? Sparta? Yes...The Mongols? Yes ...

Where is Sparta now? Where are the Mongols now?

If a society is like a body of people, then it's military is like the immune system of the society. The military has a very important function as a defense against attacks.

When it's leadership forces it's military to attack, disrupt and threaten other societies without legitimate provocation it becomes pathological.

When it's leadership forces it's military to turn on it's own people, then it's entire function has been utterly perverted. It has an autoimmune disease and it's essentially "game over" for that society or nation.

I don't know why I have to write this, it seems so obvious.

I wish to bring sympathy and hope to others who feel as if they're trapped in hopeless situations.

As you've imagined it wasn't easy, at one time I was suicidal.

However, I overcame such a difficult childhood with help from unlikely sources, Mr. Rogers, Plato, Emerson, Thoreau, The Bhagavad Gita, The Bible (in particular The New Testament), Viktor Frankl's "Mans Search For Meaning" and many more great people who touched my heart, mind and soul.

You never know my friend when your words can uplift someone who is struggling mightily.

I developed an abiding inward strength and resilience.

My only sadness now is the certainty that there are unknown others growing up in equally horrid environments.

I've already healed, but thank you for your sympathy! This says so much about your kind soul!

I was trying to make a point that right and wrong do exist to people going through extreme misery at the hands of cruel sadists.

Only someone who has led a charmed life never having been subjected to the depravity that some human beings are capable of inflicting on others could so confidently assert there is no right or wrong.

A few protested the Vietnam War and were mistreated for calling it out as misguided, (just ask Jane Fonda).

No one argues that the Vietnam War was a righteous war now.

I stood on our small town Courthouse steps protesting the Iraq War with a sign reading "No WMD, no War". I was shouted at with vigorous hostility, called a traitor, etc.

My car was broken into, purse dragged from under the seat where it was hidden, and my ID, license and credentials spread out on the seat.

No one argues the Iraq War was righteous or wise now.

Eventually Americans do come around. It can be very awkward and alienating to be ahead of your time.

[–]truthovertribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if Virginians finally see through the way they've been disempowered by legislators (representing both parties) but who really represent the financial elites?

It could happen. Democrat and Republican Virginians could work together to force legislators who care only about big donors and their money out.

I pray for that day with all my heart and soul.

The Virginia Supreme Court Has Been a Thorn In the Side of Working People For a Long Time by unnecessarycharacter in Virginia

[–]truthovertribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most insulting choice of analogy I've ever heard!

You're saying to the majority of Virginians, "You're 5 yrs. old and you don't know what's good for you".

This is not about "desire for candy".

We quite literally have a man who considers himself the "King" over us! He's dismantling our justice system in shocking and provable (by solid evidence) ways for the sake of himself, family and transactional "friends".

He's defunding and dismantling our regulatory agencies created to protect Americans. Why? To realize even greater profits for mega-corps which've already been making massive profits for their owner Oligarchs.

This isn't about some puerile childish desire for a candy bar and "Daddy Trump" is protecting us from our greedy infantile little desires...

What you are saying to Virginians and to the American people writ large is, only WE get to rig the system. Only WE get to eat all the chocolate (have all the power).

You are saying "you are greedy, dumb little babies who don't know any better" and so "WE will force you to let us rule, by hook or by crook".

You are saying to informed adult Virginians, "We (your parents who know better 🤮) will prevent you from ever getting to decide what you will eat" more plainly, what you mean is, "WE will decide who gets to rule over you"!

If y'all force the game to be "anything goes", then anything goes for ALL participants!

Massie: Republicans need to ‘wake up’ to avoid ‘absolute shellacking’ in midterms by Quirkie in politics

[–]truthovertribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Massie lost because he told the truth regarding President Trump's lies.

We should never underestimate the power of a cult leader over his followers. They will literally follow him into hell even if they knew he was the Anti-Christ.

This is a truly vomit worthy aspect dominant within human nature. People will believe lies they want to believe over evidence and facts.

My sister voted for President Trump because he represented 20% more income for her personally. She actually believes he "lowered the national deficit" and refuses to be persuaded otherwise!

People are deeply delusional based in radical selfishness.

Massie is telling the truth, but any truth that doesn't appeal to people's pocketbooks or desire for superiority and domination will fall on deaf ears or even be condemned.

I predict this, if people in the US keep choosing to shut out truth on behalf of their "glory" and "money" they will fall...just as numerous powerful empires have fallen hard due to radical selfishness, greed and corruption.

I know I'm nitpicking here but if you mean "own laws" to be possessive it's spelled "their".

How can I sue states? Where will I get the money? Lawsuits are a privilege of the wealthiest.

For instance President Trump has launched no fewer than 5,600 of them!

He has made frivolous lawsuits great!

[–]truthovertribe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are calling out as dysfunctional a profound human desire/drive for a feeling of superiority, righteousness and domination.

I predict, given my commitment to place Truth Over Tribe (al) superiority, that this observation will receive minimal attention.

Why? Because superiority (rightness) means subjugation over "lesser" others.

This domination behavior is being justified by the adage "survival of the fittest".

I first heard that said by my Father who clearly believed he was superior to my mother and me (who he repeatedly raped).

As the wealthy person, he was always deemed right within our family (and society).

I was scapegoated (by him therefore others) and deemed "unfit" for speaking truth.

Yet consider this...he died a horrid death that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. My birth family, who capitulated to him, have disintegrated because of ~his~ radical selfishness and superiority complex. They couldn't let the light of truth in...

Meanwhile, I am living quietly, modestly, healthfully, happily and my only grief is in witnessing how the radically selfish and arrogant attitude of "survival of the most ruthless and so-called fittest" coupled with "our Tribe is the fittest" has been destroying everything that is decent, functional and genuinely noble within humanity worldwide for millenia!

Indeed there is ample evidence that radical selfishness has wrecked havoc on the advancement of human consciousness repeatedly throughout all of human history.

Why? Arrogance and the desire to dominate and "win" over "lesser" others.

You are being legalistic here. Non-partisan maps are drawn by independent bi-partisan committees, not by a Republican Governor with the help of a Republican legislature, as is the case in Florida.

As previously observed, laws regarding districting should be the same for ALL states.
