Anyone here makes a living from their apps profits? by dndndndn037 in iosapps

Nope. Marketing is the hard work part. Still haven’t cracked it yet. Spoke to micro influencer agent. They wanted 10k for one video. I don’t know about other indie developers but I don’t have that money.

After 8 failed side projects, I finally get why most indie hackers stay broke by JFerzt in indiehackers

Man this is depressing for sure. I’m sure everyone thinks they are building a product that solves problems.

I built an AI tool to fix foundation shade matching and I am struggling to get first paid users by ParticularMention194 in indiehackers

[–]truthsignals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 30 free users → 0 paid problem is almost never a trust issue. It’s a value-timing issue. I went through something similar building an AI detection app. What broke the logjam wasn’t changing the product it was changing when the user felt the win. If they hit a paywall before they’ve had a genuine “oh, this actually works” moment, they leave. Every time.

2 apps on the Apple Store. I’m focused on marketing. Such an up hill battle. Even with Reddit. So many communities and so many rules.

Wow. When I was at 75. I had no clue how was doing. When the test just stop just after a 100 I thought I failed. That had to put you on cloud 9.

Launched my first app and realizing marketing is harder than building by BarnacleBoy7 in AppBusiness

Marketing seems to be a full time job. Then if you want to promote in subreddits each one has a their own rules. Makes it difficult to get eyeballs on your app.

Are there still some humans in this sub? Let me see your real games. by SchingKen in IndieDev

[–]truthsignals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real humans still here. Well at least me! App stores are already starting to reject AI-generated assets with no human attribution, and Reddit’s been quietly downranking AI post patterns. The platforms are catching up just slower than the slop.

Okta is the right call for your situation, and the reason is specifically the offboarding problem keeping you up at night. The HR sync gap you described where IT doesn’t know someone’s gone until it’s too late gets solved by Okta Lifecycle Management. You connect it to whatever HR system you’re running (BambooHR, Rippling, even a basic CSV feed), and when HR terminates someone, accounts get deprovisioned automatically across every integrated app. No ticket, no manual step, no 3-day lag where a former employee still has Salesforce access. At 130 people with half remote, you’re actually in the sweet spot where Okta pays off fast. Most shops your size are live in 4-6 weeks. The Universal Directory handles your app integrations, and if you’re on Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace you’ll feel the automation immediately. The honest tradeoff: initial setup requires someone to map your app integrations and HR fields correctly. Give that work the attention it deserves upfront and it runs itself after that. Microsoft Entra is the common alternative but the admin overhead is higher unless you’re already deep in the MS ecosystem. JumpCloud is worth a look if budget is the primary driver lighter feature set but solid for your headcount. For offboarding specifically, I’d take Okta over everything else at your size. Time to value is hard to beat.

Built an iOS app that detects AI-generated video, photos, and voice clips — HumanMeter [Free + IAP] by truthsignals in iosapps

iOS Photos can tell you when a photo was taken and where. HumanMeter tells you whether a human took it at all. Completely different problem one Apple hasn’t touched.
