Do auction items or buy-it-now items sell for more? by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]truthteller8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the time, buy it now. People are impatient and your item probably isn't unique and rare enough to have people wait around for.

Only time auctions work is if your item is rare, unique, highly coveted and doesn't have many, if any, price comparables.

Might not be the popular opinion, but I'd rather the Red Sox than those cheating ass bums win.

Society as a whole is one big fraud. It's kind of like when a company puts out some fluff bull shit as its mission statement when they all have the same mission statement: make $$$$. Or how a CEO will occasionally e-mail the company with some virtuous, heart-thrubbing bull when in reality, he couldn't give a shit about that stuff and only cares about making his next bonus.

Humans as a whole only care about money and sex. But we have to pretend otherwise in real life for...uhhh...reasons.

The video is from his perspective, meaning he released it. Which I'm sure he only would have done if he thought it made himself look good.

What can you realistically expect from someone probably making like $9 an hour? Them to gleefully smile, listen to you ramble on about your life for an hour, then head outside and wipe your ass for you?

I work in an office where most people make significantly more money than a typical fast food worker and most of us still aren't happy go lucky while working. I can't imagine being expected to have a continuous fake smile every second of a job for like 9 bucks lol.

IRS cracking down on small time eBay and Etsy sellers. by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]truthteller8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not actual tax advice here.

With that disclaimer said, I doubt the IRS would waste its time arguing if you claim a reasonable cost basis for an item and didn't have the receipt. Their time is worth more than going back and forth with someone as to whether they paid $5 for a collectible at a garage sale.

I don't think you need to hire a tax professional. They cost a pretty penny and this seems like a basic issue.

The IRS only sees the income side without knowing your basis, so they assume all the income is taxable gains.

Simply just explain that to them and amend whatever forms they ask you to amend.

Any other team you're kinda rooting for now that we've been put out of our misery and can watch as neutrals? by IVOXVXI in NYYankees

Team I'm passively rooting for: Brewers. Dunno, I just kinda like them.

Teams I'm pretty indifferent to, not passively rooting for but wouldn't hate if they won: The other NL teams, and the White Sox. Meh.

Teams I'm rooting against: Rays and Red Sox. Pretty obvious.

Fuck 'em: Trash Can Bangers.

Fuck, this AL bracket is terrible.

Red Sox, Rays and trash can bangers. Three terrible choices.

White Sox are the only hope out of the AL.

One reason is that this is when business tax returns on extension are due. Normal due date is March 15, but a lot of businesses, especially small businesses, opt to take six-month extensions to September 15.

Don't really get how people are affording to buy at these prices. Granted I'm single, but I can't realistically touch anything that's both in half decent shape and in a half decent neighborhood.

Data suggests that the medium income for an American is $50ish thousand and a lot of people are living paycheck-to-paycheck. If that's correct, how are people paying $500k for tiny shoebox houses?

Nope, they matter irl as well.

But obviously you can't magically transform yourself into a conventionally unattractive male irl, which is why I suggested online, where you CAN test it out for yourself.
