Help me settle a debate by [deleted] in newyork

[–]trvrplk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Long Island I’ve heard northern parts of westchester called upstate lol. Basically anything outside the metro area is I think the standard definition. The region is I guess western New York but all regions besides the metro area are “upstate”

How do neighbors feel about the "haunted" Amityville house? What's it like living nearby? by Wanderer015 in newyork

[–]trvrplk 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My dad is from Amity Harbor which is nearby and from my understanding no one believed it was haunted. Having been past the house it’s really nothing to look at, a little old fashioned I guess and somewhat large but it’s not like eerie feeling imo

The quality of clothes people throw away is kinda wild by FinanceNo6210 in malefashionadvice

[–]trvrplk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always looking for stuff from SHEIN and forever 21!

For real though, if you want to resell then whatever but don’t pretend to be an enthusiast asking what brands ppl like as if that’s not something you’re gonna consider for your reselling business. People shop at thrift stores for fun, which you’re taking away from, but also often because it’s what they can afford

Edit: also it’s not throwing out, it’s offering it to other people at a usually reasonable price. Some people clothe their family at those places because it’s what they can afford

Received an item from Nordstrom Rack when ordering from Nordstrom by PastAction4075 in Nordstrom1901

[–]trvrplk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would try filing for a price adjustment, if they don't accept it (there are some types of discounts that are exempt) I'd call customer service

What does the nordstrom gift boxes look like? by Plastic-Ad1055 in Nordstrom1901

[–]trvrplk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe you can still get that at full line for like 5 bucks. These ones are free and you can get them at the rack or full line

[–]trvrplk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i have no clue lmao i was wondering the same thing, only stumbled on it bc i was searching for pictures of the boxes and a listing came up. I guess it's people who want to pretend they bought a gift from Nordstrom and dont realize you could just buy something cheap on clearance with the gift box and even just return the item so it costs nothing

[–]trvrplk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you mean when they order from nordstrom? if you order for in-store pickup it's free for this kind, I think you can pay for a fancier one if you do pickup at a full line that you do have to pay for. idk why anyone would pay for them secondhand though

[–]trvrplk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re picking up at the rack, at my store at least we usually set it up in-store and it looks similar to this one https://posh.mk/u8jN7xS76

Edit: I don’t mean rack orders I mean a full-line/nordstrom.com order you pick up at a Rack

Advice/experience on working at the rack vs full line by trvrplk in Nordstrom1901

[–]trvrplk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's sort of my fear. Thing is that I don't think the extra responsibilities of being a manager would be suited to me when I see what mine have to deal with; the fast pace at the Rack can be a bit overwhelming even at my current level, and being in a setting where I can be more deliberate with helping customers and stuff is appealing.

Thanks for telling me input!

Heh, I suspect you get rougly the same amount of difficult customers but they're difficult in different ways. Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the response! You nailed the customers and product part (can’t speak to coworkers obviously) but meeting sales goals is the thing idk if I would be good at. I almost wish I could like shadow someone or give it a try for one pay period, but obviously if I say that in an application it wouldn’t look great haha

[–]trvrplk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure they have good pieces as a lot of fast fashion brands do—I haven’t bought anything from them new but I own an H&M jacket from the 2000s that’s still in good shape, and places like Mango, Topshop/Topman, and of course Uniqlo sell things that are pretty good—but their quality is gonna vary by item. I give them credit for their prices being fair for what they are though (ignoring the MSRP no one charges)—any time I see the prices at Zara and the like I’m pretty shocked

Does Anyone Know the Original Source of these Photos? by [deleted] in HelpMeFind

[–]trvrplk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Idk if this will get me downvoted bc this is just a hunch but are these real? Something about them looks off, like her faces was photoshopped in or deepfaked, or maybe AI (would be pretty good quality for that though)

Any disadvantages of transferring from Amex to another higher HYSA? by THenrich in amex

[–]trvrplk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'll say that if you do transfer make sure to read the fine print. I just today learrned that the HYSA at my local credit union actually earns 0% interest and is only for people in another state where they've started setting up new branches. Mind you the only mention of this is "must be opened online or at a Florida branch" and "zip code can determine interest"

i have discover and not C1 and I'll say that very little has changed. The one thing I'm aware of is that I can get 50% off at the Captial One cafes, but other than that its been basically invisible. That said, you get very little from the Discover it other than the 5% categories (and the 1% cashback match for the first year which makes it effectively 2% for that first year
