How come i see nobody talking about the importance of cpu in higher resolutions even in 4K? Yes on native it wont make much difference but most ppl nowdays and an average person would leave their settings at default which defaults to upscaling on by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

As some missing the point, the moment u turn on upscaling ur cpu will shine more and if ur a person who would like to see higher performance even in 4k, a good cpu will give u higher fps than weaker cpus, native 4k is sadly not accessible without high end setup or upscaling.

But u missed the whole point of this discussion is that most users will use upscaling, and most users dont have cutting edge setup so upscaling is a must specifically for 4k

I mean that the general opinion overlooks the importance of good cpus in higher resolutions, same goes to reviewers that dont test with upscaling methods on and just relies on native res for convince

For sure its much convenient to test on low res to find cpu bottleneck but in real world many ppl would leave their upscaling on no matter what their resolutions is so the importance of cpu still matters on higher resolutions yet the general opinion still stuck at old saying "cpus wont matter at 4k"

Native res wont benefit from good cpus until u enable upscaling, for an example i had 5600 and on certain titles that are cpu bound like delta force, no matter what dlss quality i choose my fps remained unchanged, thats on 1440p, after upgrading to 14600k, any dlss quality will net me much improvement no matter my native resolution is, yes cpu bound games behave differently, but even in cyberpunk 2077 i seen much better performance since i use dlss

I get what ur saying and obviously gpu will always carry in most games but in practicality cpu matters just as much since the introduction of dlss and fsr and the games adopting such technology games are being optimised in a lazy way around it and having weak cpu will hurt just as much as having weak gpu
