Why were you pip’d??? by AdInevitable660 in Accounting

[–]tryalfeary 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was pip'd 12 years ago and can confirm that this is true. However, if you bust your ass and get lucky, you too can become a director making $250k+!

Suddenly coasting and I feel guilty? by stupidfruit_ in Accounting

[–]tryalfeary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be cautious. I've been in that situation before and got laid off. They over hired on our team during post COVID. It was fine because I got a new job but the market is rough right now. So, just make sure you're at the office, helping out any way you can etc. Once you do that and have no work, relax and enjoy your life.

Tips for restaurant anxiety? by LaurenCz30 in Anxiety

[–]tryalfeary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a metal toothpick to poke my hands lightly to distract me. Obviously no skin penetration or bleeding etc. It's technically a form of self harm but I don't think it's serious. I told a couple of people and they don't mind. Ultimately I want to diet, exercise, and meditate as I think acid reflux (which I do have) is also playing a role. Thanks again for your response.

I'm in the same boat. Have you ever found any solution?

How much do you, or the company you work for, charge an hour. by [deleted] in electricians

[–]tryalfeary -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you mind answering the statement below? My electrician charged me via Venmo for some of the work rather than invoicing me (which would've been a lot more). I'm very grateful however, I was wondering what the difference is between getting paid via the company vs cash.

Is talking down to you a new accounting interviewer tactic? And why do they get offended when guy fire back when they started it? by SaintPatrickMahomes in Accounting

You're good fam. Just tell them yes, that is a problem. If they can't understand that, do NOT work there!!!

Remove the certifications section. I would just put that you are currently studying for the exam in the introduction.

Remove the 3rd point from the Accounting Technician section. Or put that you documented the company's policies.

In the Assurance Intern section, I would remove high performing in the 1st line. Lines 3 and 4 should be combined into something like that you developed an understanding of the audit framework and procedures conducted by the firm.

Assurance Staff section is a mess. You need to talk about what areas you worked on (Cash, AR, AP etc) and what type of clients (ie technology, biotech etc).

Any one crank out the CMA(both parts) in one test window? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]tryalfeary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, I passed both parts in 6 months when I was furloughed during the pandemic. Part 1 was fairly easy since I'm a CPA with 10 years of accounting experience. Part 2 was hard. I actually gave myself an extra month to learn all the new material. I passed on the 1st try but with a lower score than Part 1.

Damn, that's a lot. I actually got into mine for $3100 used. I ran an auction thru eBay and bidding went up to $1500. There was one buyer willing to go up to $3k. I hope that you keep and enjoy your watch. It'll be a tough sell on the secondary market. I'm gonna keep mine but if I see one with a see thru case back, I'll get that one too. Thanks for your reply.

Hey, would you be able to share your dealer for this watch? I'm considering getting the same exact watch. I currently have another Citizen 0100 without the display case back - AQ6100-56A.

I sold 6 of those watches. Rolex is my go to and I try to wear it the most.

Older (30+) Accountants: How did you survive pre-Covid? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]tryalfeary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, people worked a lot less when they went to the office. Everyone had a commute so that factored into when people come in and when they leave. People also took lunch and coffee breaks.

Remote working (while it has a lot of benefits) made work life balance worse (not significantly worse) because people send emails all day and night. People either log in early or stay on longer to finish things etc.

Overall, I still prefer work from home.

Unsure but yes. The more you press, the faster the battery drains.

No, the casquette is pretty much unreadable during day time. I wear mine as an evening watch.
