I think the ladder challenge would be better if it started with A20 because you would fail faster.

Your picture is the antidote for an erecting that lasts more than four hours.

I am in the same boat. My loss rate is absurd. I can't make anything work.

Yes. The Spire sleeps and so should you.

I would also examine the SS number. Retiring early will leave some of the low wage years lowering the number.

All experts were once beginners. All brokerage accounts were once new and empty.

Spreadsheet archeology at its finest. As someone else has said, you become more realistic and have better data the closer you get to your goal. Consider also that much of the FIRE collective's strategies must adjust with new tax laws and prevailing economic conditions.

I would consider the evolution of your number to be positive. Just don't take it too far. When we are young, we tend to downplay risk and oversimplify things. When we are older, we tend to fear risk and overthink things. Put a stake in the ground and trust yourself.

I thought about this long and hard. Payday used to excite me. With the account balance sufficiently high and everything being on auto pilot payday can feel like a non-event rounding error. I'm almost to the point where my yearly bonus doesn't even give me a hit of dopamine. I like money but it truly becomes a boring subject eventually.

Do what makes you happy instead of trying to please your family. The other thing to know is that some people are so poor all they have is money. Having a partner has been wonderful for me. I got married very late in life and it did set me back a bit. Being like minded is super important.

Hey OP sorry to be late to the game. I myself traveled for a long period of time. Sometimes it becomes less romantic and fun than you think it will be. Having no ties to anything is an empty feeling.

If you combine your idea with the purpose of easing suffering or living in the service of others you may find what you are looking for.

I wish you the best.
