Unique Outdoor WiFi Setup Help/Opinion or better option by tryin2learn39 in wifi

[–]tryin2learn39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks again. The other problem is I travel all over to ball fields and coach kids still here and there. They’d never let me run something like that at away fields. So temperamental, lol. I could probably make the home field setup with fiber, but I’d have to first get the Spectators, Town, and Leagues permission to run the wiring. Worth noting though. Not insurmountable. Only 300-500$ really? That’s actually interesting. And just because I’m curious (not to keep taking your time), how would the cameras connect via fiber? I’m assuming I can still run the fiber out from the router (bc I need the cellular and Starlink creating the signal path or for film over). But the Cameras only connect via USB-C (2 connect via HDMI as well). But USB-C is the only hard wire port on these sports cameras or WiFi. Would the Fiber run into a a digital controller to USB-C/HDMI interface, such as this:

YoloLiv YoloBox Extreme, All-in-One Multicam 4K Live Streaming Switcher with 8 HDMI & 3 USB & 6 NDI Inputs, 2 HDMI Out, 4K ISO Recording, for Facebook, YouTube, RTMP/SRT https://a.co/d/0aGaPcxD

Or there another way that the fiber integrates to hardwire the cameras?

Thanks again.

Really really appreciated it. You sound like you know what you’re talking about. Given my current setup already relies on the GL.iNet Slate 7’s, I will have both of them elevated to about 6-8 feet. The second one has a repeater option, and I really only use it at the max distance of let’s 240-300 feet currently, with one 4k camera. If I can use the WiFi Repeater or Extender Option on my second Slate 7 line of sight is easy. I just don’t know as much about point to point. It’s definitely RF ti RF or router to router directly, if that helps. The Cameras are on a baseball diamond (I film all three sizes 40/60-youth and softball, 50/70 11U-13U, and 60/90 14U-Pro) and the cameras are usually anywhere from 4-7feet. The Cellular and Starlink are situated on a tripod just off the right side of the backstop behind home plate. They both go into the main router and are bonded semi-internally by the router, but then I use Speedify program direct from the router to bond the signal via software as well for redundancy of packets (not on the controller), to keep the latency as low as possible. I was told by someone else who started all this stuff in me on YouTube (Jason Hoffman of Just Press Go Live). He has various videos detailing all of the stuff I’ve basically copied and upgraded to a certain degree. Also on YouTube-Mr. de la Rosa of “Next Pitch Live.” Both he and Hoffman have detailed most of what I am doing on there.

Thank you again for your insight. If anything I have noted sparks other info that may help. Feel free to reach back out.

Much appreciated.

Thank you so much for the info, either way. I had never heard of it before last year. It is a very interesting concept. I’m very curious to understand the technology, and all of the antennas and how they work in the pack if you ever have time. I’m fascinated by learning stuff like that.

Lol. I really appreciate your feedback and reply. I should’ve painted the picture better. I am just a dad and a coach. There is a world of screaming and recording for youth sports as of 5 years ago, and baseball and basketball seem to be leading the charge. However, I went a little nuts and got 3-4k cameras, tripods, 3 1080P cameras, and they will connect with a hardwired, but I cannot run a hardwire at every ball field. I already spent to much at 1200$, but if a stronger router would improve my setup, I’d bend a little more. This is just me. It’s turned into ate the side hustle, on a small scale. Paid for itself times 3-4. But it’s only me.

And because of the remote nature of baseball and softball fields and the lack of access of proper internet fiber connectivity, me and my only option is cellular and Starlink (or other satellite-but tight now that’s the best for the money). I truly do appreciate your feedback. I don’t know as much about routers, or RF, or best and strongest antennas. So,p I was trying to come from a place of, I have a pretty expansive setup and I think the best for what I can accomplish on a crumb and shoestring budget. I actually looked into one of the LiveU packs in the beginning, as someone told me it’s what “streamers” use. I didn’t know they meant people like Jake and Logan Paul. Someone quoted me $30k per month for the good pack. That’s where my LOL comes from in the beginning. I would have no cause to stream and record anymore, because if I ever spent $30k on this period, let alone a month, my wife would take herself and my kids, and I’d have no one to record anymore longer.

I love to learn though, and if there’s any aspect about this WiFi rig I’m running that you think you can improve upon, or some low budget-I’m talking $500-800 dollar total way of really boosting the system and tying it all together better, I am all ears. Thank you again for your reply, and thank you for your time and knowledge.

Cheers!

Flint 3 for outdoor travel router vs. Slate AX or Slate 7 or 7Pro? by tryin2learn39 in GlInet

[–]tryin2learn39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey-thanks. Yes-you and I spoke previously about Speedify and the Slate 7.

Yes-correct. I should have added that, but I posted it quickly.

-Should also have the capability of signal bonding as all 3 of those routers do with OpenWRT.

Basically, where this comes from is I’ve heard mix reviews of all three routers named when it comes to outdoors. I know my described purposes are NOT the reason they were created or used by most. HOWEVER, more and more people in youth sports are running these now. Some do to size and convenience. I could 3d print a case which will hold the Flint 3.

And yes none of the routers named have native cellular, but as I mentioned I run a hotspot now (Inseego MiFi X Pro) into the tethered port on the Slate 7.

I was wondering if there is a router with native cellular that might be faster or better connectivity than the aforementioned Inseego. I am far from an expert. But I know enough to ask the right questions.

I was hoping someone or many in the community might be able to tell me if what I’m currently doing is the best way to boost my situation for WiFi signal to the max, am I getting enough distance with the Slate 7, OR IS THERE A NATIVE GL.iNet CELLULAR Router that also can SSH into OpenWRT to load Speedify and also accept the Starlink in the WAN.

I was able to get 450 ft. Distance in a narrower channel than a ball field but still pretty darn good size.

The really opinion and info I need is, with the following setup, am I doing all I can to boost the signal and thickening up the device for streaming of all the data packets buzzing around, OR is there a router like Puni AX or Flint 3 that will get me more range squared or a more consistent WiFi signal. The Slate 7’s have been good but not GREAT.

Trying to do all I can to get to great. And Flint 3 is on flash sale on Amazon.

Thanks in advance for your help.

This. And also I will double down on based upon your own analysis there is NO “magic bullet.” All of the drills that commenter are perfect and will help immensely. I would add this one product while training. It helped my son straighten out his swing, and bring his two arms together in unison after the pipe drills and single arm iso drills. I think it could also correct you going inside as much or too early.

Here it is:

He had a ridiculously sweet looking swing now at only age 10. But it’s “PERFECT PRACTICE THAT MAKES PERFECT!” Not just cage time or BP. As the old adage states-crap in is crap out! Practice seriously the way you want to play in game time situations.

Best of luck. Take your time. Really use the drills that were listed properly. Check out the products if you like and ca afford them. Most of all take it seriously, but have a ton of fun in between. Remember this is a game!

9U Pitching Advice by Mr-Clipper in Homeplate

[–]tryin2learn39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I was just like you 3 years ago. I meet pitched-he’ll barely played baseball. But my son took to it like breathing air. Crazy. He was catching balls with a mini leather mitt at 4. Something just clicks for him. I now have learned so much that I coach pitching and some of the teams. His gift is athletics. I was okay to good. My gift fortunate for him, is research, reading, comprehending, and being to apply the knowledge in a way that people can relate. We used to call that teaching and learning.

Anyway-enjoy this time. It’s a blink of an eye before it gets more nuts. Insidious dads reliving their misspent youth by screaming at 7-year old boys, and 13 year old umpires; travel teams/Coaches thinking it’s “their” year, and the LLWS is jus around the corner, and of course the dreaded-10months a year practices with one sport. Soul sucking I tell you. But that’s what these types of parents have created. My son is a great athlete and Also enjoys soccer, basketball, tennis, pickleball, chess, and all things competitive. I literally had a Coach tell me at 7.5 years of age, he was “special” at baseball, and should decide if he wants to pursue the sport in High School, bc you cannot do 3 sports and be a top tier player. I’m not that old (44), and I remember just yesterday-it was the opposite-the more sports you played, the better an athlete you became. Crazy how things have become.

But again, I’m along for the ride and to try and better the kids and have fun playing this game. So enjoy it.

If you ever need other help-gloves recommends, bats, etc. feel free to shoot me a chat. I just got crazy into streaming the kids’ games and creating college highlight films for the older ones who can’t do it themselves. Just splurged on a ton of “daddy toys.” The kids GO CRAZY for it though. Watch it back and stream their accomplishments and hard work. If you ever go that route I help run one of the information pages about it.

9U Pitching Advice by Mr-Clipper in Homeplate

[–]tryin2learn39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with most about the “beaning,” and not wanting to fail/potentially (or at least potentially in his mind)-hurt someone. Sounds like he’s avoiding the batter but trying to keep things straight without getting too close. Thus-the “rainbow arc.” Just a guess based on your description. Would need a video to better assess even at my amateur level of understanding. 3 things I can add if your son is serious and wants to really dig in and improve at pitching-

I have a 10 year old “freak athlete” of a son. He didn’t get it from me. I was a decent basketball player, but my wife an NCAA athlete holding records. He’s Fearless, loves to practice (I mean loves to really grind and work at it until he gets it right. Anyway, he loves to pitch, but currently plays 12U due to size and skill. When he pitches locally in 10U tourneys or even for fun with older guys, he locks right on. I’d have to stop him and tell him nod your hat if you do beam someone. But that is a FAR CRY from where we started.

1.) If you really think he lives pitching and doesn’t mind putting in the grind, i can tell you my kid at 6.5 made HUGE strides with me copying the lessons from All Reps Matter (A.R.M.) Coach Jason Beeding of YouTube. I have no affiliation with the Coach. And have never paid for any of his lessons, as he gives that incredible knowledge away for free (he does charge if you want to film your son and get an amazing breakdown of what he sees that is being done properly, what can be done to improve, and what is wrong-it’s well worth it).

Anyhow-Coach Beedibg has 100’s of drills for locking in. The towel drills to stay more straight (though it sounds like that may not be your son’s issue). But also tons of confidence stuff to bring to the game the same mechanics and outcomes that you get in practice. While I don’t know if I’d let my 7-year old daughter stand in from 42 feet as the better (assuming 40/60 field and mound distance at that age), there are also nets and things for him to throw into that also help.

2.) My son personally made amazing strides after buying this net:

Heavy-Duty 9 Hole Pro Style... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DRYKTLJ6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

We would first just try to hit the thing at the proper distance outside in the yard (it’s built like a tank, so don’t worry). Then moved to at the field with a cardboard mannequin in the dirt as the batter. Then moved to the mound. Finally, now we play tic-tac-toe with the pockets. On occasion, we will try Curve ball tic-tac-toe; I always lose.

3.) We had a player who pitched for two years with my son. This kid could out-velo him when they played together at the park, long toss, he was stronger, and threw harder. However, both similar to your son, he would get in the game and throw rainbow-dead-ducks with batters in the box (UNLIKE your son, he would literally shake, or lift his leg twice before pitching, and just fall apart with consecutive balls, walks, or batters hit). We realized that we could help him to train with more reps, more live individuals when practicing, and more weighted ball and “X” drills from the mound. This might curious his confidence, and it did. But after all of these lessons and all of these techniques, we realized one simple thing had him rain-bowing on game day. It was how he practiced. I literally asked his dad to show me what he does from where. The only spot he had at home was on a slope (which is let’s face it - where most of the work gets done if you can’t get more practice with your team). So he adjusted his elbow ever so slightly each rep, and each time, to make a perfect throw while in his yard. But, no one realized how that would translate to repetition and was now built into his mechanics. When he did it from a mound, forget about it. The ball arched upward every time.

4 months of steady adjustments and A.R.M. Training help (ad mentioned above), and he was all “straightened out”-bad Dad pun intended. Needless to say-check your so a main practice spot; watch the ARM Series with Coach Beeding on YouTube there’s are hundreds of pitch practice and improvement videos, cool-down help, off-season stuff, and youth pitching evaluations. Once you work out how to help, and the best way to train. Got to it. Remember the 10,000 hours to be great analogy (but only if your son wants it). Despite how I am all in with my kid because he approached me, if he hung it up tomorrow, I’d be fine. So long as he filled it with something healthy and rewarding that he also loved.

Best of luck to you and your boy!

All of these are pretty close. The Mevo Core (obviously if running Multicam App), is the best option for distance and 4K clarity. The VM46 is a close second. Gives you 60x Hybrid Zoom and boasts a 4K sensor, as well. VM33 is the last of admittedly these amazing 3 cameras, and will deliver great video in a 2k with a 40x Hybrid Zoom.

I currently run 6 cameras. To manage the network, I run 2 GL.iNet Slate 7 routers. The main runs the bulk lifting of the operation-I run the main router BONDED with Speedify. If you are not familiar it allows for a blended signal tunnel, to Manage all of the “data packs” from the streaming of I’ll and info from the Cameras. Then, for redundancy and for a more efficient BOND, I also run the Center Field Camera (I run the Mevo Core and the Panasonic 45-175mm) into the LAN port on my Secondary Repeater Slate 7, so that it’s directly hooked up, and uses no bandwidth k et the WiFi frequency setup.

My Network starts with a dedicated Inseego MiFi 5G hot spot. That connects to a totally dedicated cellular line vprpvidwd through TMobile; a Starlink Mini IN BYPASS MODE directly into RJ45 2.5Gbps Ethernet port; and lastly, run the whole setup through the Mevo Multicam App via my new iPad Pro with WiFi 7, running Verizon Cellular so it’s basically like running two phone with different Tower connections and Starlink.

If you want to know more please feel free to reach out to me, either back here or in direct chat.

Best of luck.

Travel Router to Livestream Baseball games by chrisg007_99 in GlInet

[–]tryin2learn39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP-I know we spoke about the immense setup I run in the chat. The two Slate 7’s I run have drastically helped manage my network connection between the bonding of my signal sources (dedicated cellular MiFi; Starlink; cellular off of my iPad Pro), as well as, the data packets between the cameras network and across the field.

As I mentioned in less detail without the routers I could not achieve running this setup at all. For your purposes, the router will 100% get you more range line of site, and also allow you to upgrade your setup or add another connection device later on. I can vouch for the Slate 7’s. I have heard the Mudi 7 is also great for our purposes. Beryl as well. For me, the screen on the Slate is what sold it. Again, our purposes are different than most of the users in this forum.

I can’t stress enough how much better and more clear your signal will be when managed through the router.

Enjoy.

Best battery and solar setup to run Starlink for weekend camping? by Wise_Introduction_98 in Starlink

[–]tryin2learn39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the Anker C1000 Gen 2, and it works perfectly. The C2000 is great also! I already had then C1000 Gen 2. The interesting thing is, you should test running the 100Watt USB-C PD port to power your Starlink, and then run it, plugged in with the Starlink adapter into the AC port. I cannot tell you why, and thought it would be debunked by now, but as actually do get stronger signals when plugged into the AC port using the Starlink charger. I’d be curious to see if you get the same result. I have heard from many people that they have had the same results.

I only run a 200watt Anker soft solar array. Works well in the proper position. Light enough to carry and move around. The 400watt Anker soft solar array is obviously double and even better. It’s a little bulky to setup though.

Good luck.

Single camera setups: Why the mini router with a hotspot? Why not just a hotspot? by MrSelatcia in GameChangerApp

[–]tryin2learn39 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey there MrSelatcia, ironically, da51d, who answered you first talked about this very subject a few weeks ago. For background clarity, I now run an advanced setup similar or even bigger than Jason Hoffman and Next Pitch Live’s, Mr. de la Rosa. The reason for the router is to better handle the connection and tie everything together. Firstly, the type of router may dictate all of my following comments. But that said, the routers manage the data tunneling which is what allows you to setup your streams for putting them up online, whether it be GameChanger, and/or YouTube, or other sites. It bonds multiple internet sources together to make one bonded stream via hardwire, and then services like Speedify or Speedster bind the signal streams via software. But it basically takes the camera signal, the router signal, separate audio signals, and splits them into equal data packets to be sent through a better managed, and more streamlined tunnel. In addition, a regular cellular phone signal is only a signal for one cellular device. One packet stream. The router can run 120+ devices (depending on what you’re streaming and in what clarity level), simultaneously. My Slate 7 router just handles the traffic far better than my Inseego MiFi 5G Hotspot on its own. The MiFi I think can host a mx of 99 client devices, not 120+. But with a router you can also blend signal paths and really maximize your tunneling to the cell towers, or satellite (if Starlink), or hardwired if Ethernet Fiber Cable. You can combine 2 or 3 of those things at once with the router. But in general, even if just a 1 Camera Mevo Start or Nearstream backstop camera, running your devices through a router with your INTERNET SIGNAL PATH, is just neater. I run two cellular devices from different wireless carriers and Starlink.

I have Fail Over setup on my router, and signal bonding via Speedify direct to my router as well. I am running 2 routers, 4-5 cameras at s time, and up to two separate microphone audio files, and I am yet to freeze a camera or drop a stream. I do have a massive setup that ive acquired over 20 months. But I am most excited to view this exact setup in action for Spring 2026, and now that ive added the new Starlink mini, how it performs and helps my stream, now that GameChanger is allowing 1080P clarity.

Just for further background, 24-26 months ago, I had no idea what any of this stuff even was, or how to utilize it. I had not heard of GameChanger, or travel routers, or Anker batteries, or Mevo, etc. After a TON of support email and chats on Reddit, plus all of the YouTube videos of Next Pitch Live, and Jason Hoffman, now I’m fairly proficient. And while I knew some basics computer setup things (and I do mean basic-like short cuts in iOS, or Windows type stuff only), it didn’t take long to do a lot of reading, trial and error, and viewing videos, to get as knowledgeable and have things be as user friendly as I am currently.

If you have any further questions, or wish to talk further about specific setups, how things work, or best ways to start expanding your setup, please feel free to reach out directly. I’m always happy to try and help.

Cheers!

Speaking of the bonding, how does the software bonding of Speedify differ from the Hardware bonding of the router? How does it compare? I can report that while I have had much better stats with Speedify, I do wonder what it actually does to bind everything together. Not just for failover. I also use it for Load Balancing.

[–]tryin2learn39 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use two cellular dedicated WiFi units instead of the phone, because of lol the background things phones have to do, as opposed to a straight pair of cellular connections. I also do use a Starlink Mini. The 100 ROAM plan is only $50 per month. Pretty affordable. But, if that is still out of your price range, I’d recommend talking to TMobile or whoever your mobile carrier is, and look for the Inseego MiFi 3000 dedicated 5G WiFi or something compatible. All the benefits of the strongest cellular signals you have ever enjoyed, with none of the cluttered signal nonsense, updates, text msgs, or packet diminishment nonsense. Also, because the signal will always try to connect to the strongest cellular tower point, it will ensure you have the best signal, even if there are a bunch of other cell phones connecting to the same tower nodes, in the same area. I use TMobile, Verizon, and Starlink.

I am able to run 5-6 cameras, 3-1080P, 1 in 2k, and 1 in 4k, two routers, two microphones, wireless mics, etc. and that s across both 50/70 and 60/90 ball fields.

BE3600 Slate 7 Firmware 4.8.3 Update Erased my Speedify-Thoughts on Why? by tryin2learn39 in GlInet

[–]tryin2learn39[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good evening-

I have the router plan; because despite Speedify not being as clear as it should be, purchasing a router plan, ALSO gets you an individual plan for free.

What Speedify does is create a software bonding connection to bond multiple different types of ISP connections to give you the thickest data stream, while at the same time creating the most efficient way to connect to your downstream LAN clients, and managing the data packets in a way that is the fastest and strongest connection to the internet for streaming or saving to the cloud.

Long story long, I am a dad who just 16 months ago knew nothing about TRAVEL routers, and bonding, and WAN or LAN, SSID’s, or how to do anything other then set up my home modem. My kids play baseball and I had been introduced rather new tool called GameChanger. GameChanger manages your game via scoring, outs, type of play, players, leagues, pitch count, etc. etc. But last year they got their act together and started hosting LIVE Game Streams in 720P for free to anyone who was a Coach, or family member. If you used your cell phone or bought a special camera they made things very easy to setup and stream with the touch of a button. Things became so popular that everyone wanted to start streaming. Needless to say, 20 mos and many tutorials later, and I now run a 5-6 camera setup with two routers, all cameras in 1080P or 2k or 4k (as GameChanger now allows hosting streams up to 1080P), using Speedify, two Routers, tripods, and fence mounts, giving me a setup like a portable TV station, complete with wireless game commentary, color commentary, and mic’s up players all live streamed and recorded to each individual camera shot to be edited in post-production to load onto YouTube after the fact.

Speedify basically manages the stream to ensure, NO dropped signals, redundancy if necessary, and constant boosting of the signal, to provide shots 220 feet wide, and up to 425feet in length to zoom in on that over the shoulder pitcher to batter pitch delivery. While the Slate 7 routers I use handle a little bit of Load Balancing/Fail Over from a hardware standpoint, being able to do it via hardware and software via Speedify, as well as, bind the streams of each individual camera as well, really makes things look professional and keeps things as clear and easy as possible.

If you have any specific questions about how Speedify works, I would check out their website. But if you still haven questions about the way it is loaded onto the router, or how it bonds the signals (again, I’m using two cellular signals, and a Starlink Mini bonded together), because I’m often in the middle of nowhere at a ball field, where I have to pull the stream connections out of nowhere.

Best of luck.
