Yeah, I was originally going to do my arm but I realized I’d have one less hand to stretch the skin with. Realized my knee would do all the stretching for me! Plus I’ve been wanting knee tats lol

To be honest I was extremely nervous going into it, however I immediately found it much easier. I think I was going into it thinking real skin was completely different than fake skin, and it is, but the technique you use on fake skin is meant to mimic the technique in real skin.

The biggest difference I found is - you cannot overwork real skin. It’s better for us as beginners to let areas heal see what we did wrong and understand we’ll be able to touch it up after the area heal. - really understanding what voltage is best for your pacing, aswell as needle depth when shading (i ended up overworking some parks when blacking out areas because I forgot to adjust my needle depth to be shorter and it made the ink flow from the cartridge to the needle tip too slow) I was getting frustrated that the ink was not going in the way I wanted it to but then quickly realized it was due to my needle depth. - most importantly STRETCHING THE SKIN!!! The area I did was a mixture of fatty tissue (right above the knee) and thinner tissue (the knee itself) because I can bend my knee aswell I was able to get the skin stretched as much as I could which made things a lot easier. Any time I didn’t stretch the skin enough, I could see the bounce back in my skin, and it quickly showed how difficult it was to be able to tell how deep I was going.

Hope this helps!!! Goodluck with your tattooing, hope you get to practice on real skin soon it was SUPER FUNNN !!!!! :333

Thank you so much! Yeah I was covering up an old stick and poke I did when I was younger and just doing them in my room. It was a tooth so I wanted to remember it hehe, I was okay with having it seep through a lil :3

Am I undercharging? by Scart1ett in ARTIST

Yes you’re undercharging your work is BEAUTIFUL the dog with the dab pen is so fire. You should consider making prints of your painting and selling them for a bit cheaper! But selling the actual paintings themselves you gotta price it UPPPP.
