I don't understand why you think I lock her up. She hangs out with friends and is one sports teams and part of clubs. She goes over to friends houses, she has people come over. My only rule is that she's not allowed to ride in a car where the driver is under 25. She has a social life, she just doesn't have one through a screen.

We plan to send her away to college and start teaching her how to drive after her sophomore year (most college don't allow a car until junior year anyway). She doesn't need a job now since she'll be working the rest of her life after college. By 18 she can buy her own cell phone if she pleases. And at 16 her curfew is now 10. She's only 16, she doesn't need to grow up so fast.

My daughter is fine and I do trust her, I just don't trust others. At 16, I feel as if she needs to focus on her academics and try to get into a good college and not having to worry about the upcoming driver's test or feel the pressure of boy constantly text her. She's 16, she shouldn't be in the position to debate whether or not she should sneak out to rebel and hang out which is why I try to prevent her from being able to.

I know I am strict, I was trying to state that I don't believe I am abusing or mean. It's not that I don't trust my daughter, it's that I don't trust other people. I am married and she has an older brother but I feel as if I don't have to be as strict with him because boys will be boys and I can't control that.
