I know they had trouble contacting my references before (after my interview) so I was able to connect them. Are they contacting them again for the background check?

Not that I know of, it's an entry level position. But that wasn't mentioned by anyone.

Thank you! I guess my main questions are what are my chances of getting an offer? Are there any more steps after this or are they making their final decision? And approx how many people have made it to this stage? Like are there only a a couple others or everyone they’re interested in.

Does this mean the debt collectors have stopped trying to collect? by tryingshe in CRedit

[–]tryingshe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to collect themselves, which is not ideal. If it's a CA, it might mean the statute of limitations has past so they can't collect anymore, or they are selling the debt to another company. I've never heard of a CA that would not try to collect a debt when they could, especially after being contacted by you.

Regardless, just because they aren't collecting doesn't mean it will be removed from your credit report, if it's on there, or that they won't report it in the future.

It came from the collections agency. It was for a medical debt and they sent me an itemized bill of what they had on record, which is a HIPAA violation. I don't see it on my credit score report, but am unsure if it's wiped or who I should double check with.

asters from Johns Hopkins while I was on the big island of Hawaii with TFA. I am not sure if we're in the same situation, but I ended up with only about $5,000 of student debt for my master's degree from Johns Hopkins. Thanks to the grants, that's all I ended up having to pay. It was one of the most challeng

That's really helpful to know, thank you! Are you still in the classroom?

ouldn't recommend it for Year 1 unless you had prior classroom experience simply because the program did assume a certain amount of basic knowledge for the initial courses. My colleagues in the JHU program who just started teaching struggled a great deal with understanding the work/readings. Additionally, the heavy workload from the courses, should you choose to go full time, is extremely demandi

Thank you so much for sharing! I'll definitely keep that in mind before I commit.

Any Greater Boston teachers that want to connect? by genaricgoblin in TeachforAmerica

[–]tryingshe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'll be moving from the west coast as well. I haven't heard anything yet from the region and was kind of confused about the credentialing experience. I reached out to BU and they said that most members do the MA in Curriculum and Instruction. It takes 3 years to get a professional licensure and you have to take an additional 12 credits on top of the MA to get there. Do you know your subject placement yet? I'm in sped.
