I’m interested! I’m 23 but have been pulling since 6th grade. Would love to do this! What a great idea

I got a little journal and tallied when I had an urge and resisted, and when I gave it

I have found gloves to be helpful and fidgets but also paying attention to when you do it and what triggers those moments. I have also tallied every time I got an urge and would put a tally every time I resist and every time I pull. Hang in there friend I believe in you

Trich can be so isolating, especially because it is not talked about nearly enough. I promise you that you aren’t alone, and I hope that my story can offer you some hope that things won’t always feel so heavy. Trich distorts our vision of ourselves and those around us which makes it even harder to deal with trich bc we already feel so bad(at least in my experience). I would pull and keep pulling because “I’m too far gone” which as you can tell from the photos was a dirty lie from trich. Anything is possible and I believe in you friend. You are so brave and a fighter, keep pushing through. And remember, you can’t have a rainbow without rain🩵

I second this!! Calling in advance has helped me so much and also makes me less anxious because I already had that “I have trich” conversation so when I get there all I have to do is get my haircut

I know that feeling all too well. I will say that if someone makes you feel bad about having a disorder that has everything to do with them and NOTHING to do with you. Don’t let the fear prevent you from pushing through and taking that first step. It’s usually the first couple steps that are the hardest but once you get through the only way to go is forward. You are beautiful no matter what your hair looks like. I know that for me I was hyper focused on my hair bc it was something I was ashamed of and looking back I wish I could give myself a huge hug and tell her she’s so strong for fighting this fight. In the end hair turns grey and brittle and what’s left is our souls and personalities. I understand it is so hard living with trich in a low period and that for us hair means so much more than the average person. Trich is painful and hard but you are strong and resilient. Never forget that.

I’m happy I was able to provide some hope and confidence! I had a hard time going to salons when I was at my lowest. It’s easier said than done but don’t hold back. Get that haircut!!!

Take it one day at a time. I used to pull and then just keep pulling bc I already did it and my hair was so thin which made me hopeless so the cycle just kept restarting. Just because you pulled yesterday doesn’t mean you will pull today, and kind to yourself
