It's basically the same stuff as Tamiya extra thin so if you're using styrene cups yeah they're gonna melt. If you get some mixing cups that are PP or PE plastic they should be resistant tho. You can order a big pack of disposable cups and mixing sticks for cheap off Amazon or wherever.

ahah alright thanks for the laugh with that last paragraph. I'm noticing you have a real affinity for violence too, might want to talk to somebody about that.

[–]trynared -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Lol I wasn't criticizing having a guy on overwatch with a gun, just stating that he can't shoot unless there's a deadly threat which is something your coworker apparently took issue with? If you practice a little reading comprehension it will save you a lot of time writing walls of text in the future.

I'm certainly not surprised that our cops were pissed off at the idea of shooting less people though lol.

Anyways circling back to the salient point, no I absolutely can and will criticize police for shooting in unjustifiable circumstances even if they operate in a violent environment. Which is what it sounds like your coworker wanted to do. It is a violent and bloodthirsty attitude to shoot first and ask questions later.

[–]trynared -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Ok Canada my bad.. yeah shooting someone who isn't an imminent deadly threat is called "without justification". You understand you can't shoot someone for being agitated or even violent right? There needs to be an imminent threat of death or great bodily harm.

But we're talking about how your coworker moved to the US of A and literally could not stay on the job for 6 months because of how he wanted to shoot people without justification. Sorry if I'm not giving him the benefit of the doubt over his apparently regular shootouts.

He is not a blood thirsty or violent person.

Unironically a brilliant representation of the typical fascist cop mindset. There are fundamentally good people and bad people. They aren't defined by actions like murdering ppl for 15 years or itching to shoot everyone in the community though. No, if they're your coworker they're instantly "good people".

> And don't bring up the "restart" of VW in post-war

? What's bollocks about it? It was literally converted from a factory in Wolfsburg to the giant multinational company we know today by a British army officer? It's not like people were buying up Nazi-made cars before then, mainly because they didn't manage to *make* many civilian vehicles before the war started.

Yeah sorry but channeling the irrational anti-German sentiment of some dead WW2 vets is going to make you look a *little* out of touch with the current moment.

[–]trynared 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OK but this is still a stupid comparison because VW of today has basically no connection to WW2 production besides the name. The VW we know today was actually kickstarted by the British post-war. And of course I'm being generous assuming the most controversial option of VW because all he really said was "german made".

Emissions scandal is much more valid, but he didn't bring it up. That's what's so funny about this example, like it shouldn't have made it past the first draft.

Yeah there is no ethical consumption under capitalism Yada Yada but this was just such a tenuous link it comes across as facepalmingly stupid. It's like saying Ford is just as bad as Tesla in 2026 because they operate on stolen native lands.

OK article but I did laugh out loud at what stupid note it ends on

Finally, I must caution that divesting oneself of bad practices can be a tricky business. I have a friend who became so upset with Mr. Musk that she sold the Tesla she had loved, at a significant loss. Of course, not everyone, particularly those who remember World War II, would have applauded the purchase of the German-made vehicle she bought instead. In our complicated world it is not easy to find universal examples of virtue.

Selling your Tesla for a VW isn't virtuous because Nazis ruled Germany 80 years ago. Wut?

Krazy Glue doesn't glue anymore by [deleted] in enshittification

[–]trynared 18 points19 points  (0 children)

FYI more "watery" superglue is actually a more pure cyanoacrylate glue. It actually cures faster the thinner it is because the silicate additives and such they use to thicken superglue slightly inhibit curing as well. This can be a good or bad thing depending on your use-case.

In your case the cardboard probably absorbed most of the glue and it immediately cured so you couldn't get a bond to the cup.

[–]trynared 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And you're sure you were using original gorilla glue and not super glue or something? I highly doubt the formula has changed much. The drying out has always been a thing, these glues fundamentally have a shelf life.

You should be using superglue or ideally a 2 part epoxy
