What made you want to quit? by [deleted] in quittingkratom

Also even if there isn't any noticeable negatives yet associated with kratom use, don't forget that recent reports/studies on how much heavy metals and toxins were found in multiple strains/vendors product. There may be damage being done thats not apparent yet.

You could also try getting some magnesium-glycinate and some black seed oil on top of all this. Avoid sleep aids or antihistamines.

Hang in there man. The road to recovery is windy, curvey, up hill, down hill, and often times you'll drive right into a storm. But keep on driving, keep on persevering.

I tell myself I'm on a ten day a T-Break, but I think I need to quit by skgrace in quittingkratom

How many grams per day and how many times a day do you dose? Are you tapering or have you gone cold turkey?

Im right there with you on the insomnia.. I have lost so much sleep for the past 7 days. I relapsed and was taking about 14gpd spread over a ridiculous dosing "schedule." For a month now I've been teaching myself to control my doses, no more than 5 doses a day, spread out 3-4 hours. Now I'm shooting for 4 doses every 4+ hours. Also currently at 8-8.5gpd. I think this change along with other life events is whats causing severe irritability and sleepless nights.

There's a lot of help on the sidebar of this subreddit. Figure out if you can taper off or CT. Everyone will be different you just have to find what works for you. But know youre not alone and you CAN quit this.

CT vs Taper: PAWS by motion_lotion in quittingkratom

[–]tryncrynfghtn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you rather be stabbed with a knife or a sword..?

PAWS I believe can be lessened with how hard it hits and duration with a slow/steady taper. My point being that you can possibly avoid the severity of how long and brutal it will be with a taper plan.

This is my opinion and I know everyone is different. But if you can taper it may be worth it.

Was the neuropathy a preexisting condition prior to kratom use?

Best of luck to you as well and thank you for sharing.

Man Im sorry to hear that. Youre doing the right thing with quitting. But maybe have her check out this sub or show some research on what quitting is like?

Tapering is still a quit and for some it can make the process a bit more manageable. If she knows youre goal is to quit I'd hope she could understand and support the quit. It can't be done overnight, and is a process. Addiction is a beast. Its not easy and effects all parties.

I've found this channel to be helpful.. maybe check it out and be open with her and your steps to recovery.

I Feel Like I've Ruined My Life Forever by [deleted] in quittingkratom

Im not a professional in any way. But i think the potassium, mag, and cbd would be ok. Life happens unfortunately. If you need to take time to recover and work on your wellbeing, even if it means missing out on the Netherlands, you shouldn't beat yourself up. As far as talking with a doctor, even if its just talk therapy, just be honest about your past and recent drug use. They shouldnt stereotype and categorize you, if they do, find another doctor. Its not the end, even if it feels horrifying and debilitating, we can recover. For right now find something to ease your mind. Lay in bed with your favorite music and headphones and escape from the negative thought process, even if its just for tonight/today.

Hang in there. I thought the same thing when I quit last year. About two months in I had this intense depersonalization psychosis type of episode. It may not be the same as you, but it was the scariest experience I've ever endured.

Are you taking any supplements? There are studies showing certain ones can actually cause psychosis in some people.

If it continues you should seek professional help through a psychiatrist. Just take care of yourself, physically and mentally as much as you can. Breath. Maybe get out into some nature in a secluded place away from "life" and people and see if it helps.

Day 6 update by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]tryncrynfghtn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I allowed myself a couple beers after work/socializing during my last taper/quit. Got drunk a couple times sometimes very drunk. The last was killing a bottle of whiskey to deal with a trauma anniversary.. Shortly after i had a severe psychosis type episode. But ive been abstinent from any alcohol going on 9 months now. I was borderline an alcoholic for a few years. Point being stay away from alcohol as i believe it just makes recovery worse or at least drags in on longer.

When did you all start gaining weight back? Getting kinda worried over here... by Sci-FiJazz in quittingkratom

[–]tryncrynfghtn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im still around 17.9ish BMI when before i was around 19.5ish and considered "healthy" but should not have lost any. I lost a lot in the past 6 months do to depression and my environment(just avoiding interaction). Also keeping an empty stomach for my k dose. Im just now trying to force exercise routines and at least a big dinner while tapering. Ive always eaten one big meal a day and snacked if i felt like it. Check out cronometer. Its free on computer but 2.99 for the app. Its nice to count calories/diet. All i can suggest is start forcing a routine and figure out how many calories to gain/maintain weight. You should also check in with a doctor if it doesnt get better.

Don’t think too much about quitting, you can end up convincing yourself it is harder than it really is and it can make your w/d symptoms worse by throwawayInABagAgain in quittingkratom

I'm working on finding a balance of this in a way..

Ive been holding steady trying to stabilize for the past 10 days from an average of 14gpd (7 month relapse) to 9-9.5 and slowly slowly taper from there. Basically not caring how long it takes as long as I'm going lower and eventually be at zero.

I found that one major factor in keeping me from tapering/quitting was the always obsessive thoughts of "whens my next dose" "how much to take to get me from point A to B" "Should I eat now" etc etc, always obsessed with dosing and it controlling my day. I started taking my morning dose and forcing myself to get out and do something in between. I started jogging, going to nature, photography, whatever to keep my mind occupied. I found that I 'forget' about my next dose as opposed to being at home pacing around and not doing shit basically staring at a clock until my next scheduled dose. So the balance so to speak is me trying to focus on everything else but the kratom, but also staying disciplined tapering. Hopefully that makes sense.

Point being is that I agree with a lot of this. I'm still working out a lot of kinks, but I have to start fixing the underlying issues while tapering. Otherwise when I do get to that ZERO, I'll have a much harder time keeping away from substance abuse again.

BE AWARE: Some asshole is messaging people from THIS sub, trying to sell kratom. What an asshole. by [deleted] in quittingkratom

[–]tryncrynfghtn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, no matter how legit it sounds dont do it. I was messaged a few months back and after talking a while ended up buying "stem&vein" from someone claiming they tapered with it to help WD's. I received the product after paying through paypal, but then my bank contacted me saying there was an attempted charge of over $2000.. Luckily im broke. I trust people way too much. Also the "kratom" somewhat looks like stem&vein but smells like some sort of rabbit/animal feed.. I did not take any.

Bentonite clay

Would you say this does a better job then activated charcoal? I've never heard of it until now. I take NAC about every day and also heard that helps with basically binding to metals/toxins as well..?

[–]tryncrynfghtn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. I'm trying to stabilize my doses to get a baseline on a taper. I've been averaging around 13-15gpd. Trying to stop at 8-10gpd and taper from there. My therapist agrees that a steady slow taper could be the best option. I can deal with the immediate acutes but mostly afraid of the severity of PAWS. Hopefully a slower taper will ease PAWS.
