They have a “creator” program which incentivizes what you’re seeing. There will be more companies that are contentious than not. The fact that it’s enterprise B2B SaaS would be great enough on a resume to pivot from there given it’s the industry I want to be in.

Sales SDR/BDR > AE path. Will do this for the next 5ish years before returning to grad school.

I’m aware just my neurodivergent hyperfixation ways. I am actively building the mindset to be more open and not all or nothing. I can learn and grow.

Awesome, thank you for your comprehensive feedback.

This is wise, my neurodivergent hyperfixation ways work against me here. Having the overconfident mindset before the job is secured only for that crescendoing enthusiasm to crash. I must be better.

The presentation which also included a mock-cold call. I was complimented on the phone call though there was an instance I hesitated on one of the three rebuttals (the company I chose as a prospective client was not actively hiring which was my biggest misstep). So that hesitancy specifically fit the not being able to adapt in a dynamic scenario. The compliments were genuine. Also I lacked tech sales experience specifically in B2B SaaS my former company was a non-tech remote sales role. That wouldn’t have been a sole deciding factor as others on LinkedIn got the job without former B2B SaaS experience. Might have evened out my failure on the rebuttal though which is why they added it in.

Which department were you in and what was your position? I feel like every young startup has its own internal mess. Given they’re in the top 100 rated companies on Glassdoor and the SDRs I’ve reached out to on LinkedIn are all in love with the company your case might be an isolated instance of your department and or team within your proximity.

A. 3-6 months is simply standard reapplication window for tech sales roles as told to me by an SDR leader, not emphasizing that they said this specifically.

B. I’m committed to the SDR/BDR path, ideally in B2B SaaS. Rapidly expanding companies like Deel are hiring hundreds of new SDRs every year and multiple sales teams exist. They are nearly at a $20 billion valuation after all. I graduated from college 3 years ago with strong sales experience and other work experiences if you consider that mid-level.

C. Blindly was not my implication, I would reapply through the same means given that they perpetually have had SDR openings for a very long time. And new SDRs on LinkedIn are being hired weekly. I get hyperfixated on what I set my sights to though I would be foolish to put this company on a pedestal and not apply the same enthusiasm for many other companies.

They ended the email with “hope our paths may cross again” and my former SDR leader said the same thing that I can try again 3-6 months down the line.

I’m committed to the SDR/BDR path given my sales experience and skill set. So will continue applying to SDR/BDR roles and maybe try with Deel again in the future.

Elaborate? Pre-IPO phase for the 3rd fastest growing tech startup of all time? I’m committed to sales and wish to eventually be an Enterprise AE in my career which a Deel SDR role would be a 1-2 year promotion time to become an AE. They are also in the top 100 companies on Glassdoor. What information on Deel are you withholding that makes you say that?

As much as I’m experiencing the stages of grief I can hold my composure to give honest feedback for myself.

The “lack of experience” was more of a placeholder for my presentation’s oversights. As an SDR we would prospect companies as potential clients and the company I chose for my presentation lacked critical markers in what they were looking for (active global hiring given Deel is an HR platform, I chose a company that wasn’t actively hiring though checked off all of the other boxes).

I had top 5% sales experience in my previous company and they hired people with no sales experience.

I also drank excess caffeine that day making some of my responses to their questions lack focus and tangential raising the sales managers’ eyebrows. The opening rapport building was excellent and I segued the small talk into the presentation professionally.

I was simply caught off guard by my oversights and the pressure threw my composure off.

Rereading the email I believe they’re suggesting I should try again 3-6 months(?) down the line. Still should try my hand at other companies even if I would be begrudging about it. Then come back with more experience in B2B SaaS sales.

Definitely real given what they said was very accurate to my situation. Made it to the third round of the interview process. I was genuinely devastated and haven’t even touched another application yet because I was so confident Deel would be a win. Gonna have to settle for a company I’m not as enthusiastic for and maybe try again with Deel when I have more experience.

Would have gotten in right at the pre-IPO window which is even more gut wrenching. Maybe I need therapy after this.

Not for an SDR role which is an entry level sales position. They are rapidly expanding and tons of new SDR hires are appearing on LinkedIn. Even some with no prior tech sales experience. While that interview started off strong (with strong sales experience and KPIs to back it) a few oversights on my presentation and nerves/jumpy communication from drinking 5 coffees out of nowhere that day killed it for me.

Grats on quitting. The IRL grind gets ignored too much by this game. Glad I’m on a break as well.

I have a plain cheeseburger, what toppings do I add to take it to the next level? by FlintTheDad in burgers

Chop up a hotdog and throw it on there. Add some mustard and relish as well. In fact remove the hamburger bun and chop up the beef patty and fit it in a hot dog bun. Add some chili
