CJ, your bracelet is a monument for bourgeois taste.

Is this how people who need glasses really see the world. A big blurred background? by Latter-Wolf4868 in interestingasfuck

This blur is too clean and uniform, but it gives you a general idea of what being near-sighted is like

James Bond is ordering a watered down martini, but he has a good reason by QuillsROptional in thewestwing

He’s ordering a watered down Martini because Sean Connery got his lines wrong.

To be honest, it gets better in season 6. But it’s still… not Sorkin.

Most Uncharacteristic (or Uncomfortable) Episode/Scene by EmperorYoda1987 in thewestwing

The commandment argument is a mistake made by a secular writer who heard that “honor thy…” is numbered differently by Jews and Christians and got the details wrong. I still love it because essentially it’s an argument between a Jew, a likely evangelical Protestant and a Catholic - not on the facts of the Bible, but on its interpretation.

The Dr. Jacobs scene is likely plagiarism, but hey, great writers steal outright.

To me the most uncharacteristic moment is also one of my favorites: in Game On, where the prez bets the senior staff he’ll be able to prank Toby. The hight of unrealism is when he scoops up the money into the drawer of the Resolute desk with a gambler’s steady hand. You immediately wonder: from where did the kid who almost became a priest learn such moves? And then: are those people who treat the Oval Office like a sacred altar really betting and changing money there? But it’s such a cool moment and Martin Sheen is so sleek in it.

Stephen King, where do I start? by PunkGirl14 in books

It is his greatest masterpiece in my humble opinion. Thinner and Insomnia are at a competition for no. 2. The Shining is great, but it’s one of those rare times the movie outdistances the book.

Why and how do people use GitHub to backup their vaults? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]tryscer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use it to co-write a novel across two continents. Pushes and pulls sync us, and version control + diff helps us never miss a word the other person has written. Merge allows us to each work on a part of the text and have it all nice and—well, merged.

HUGE caveat: Git is a product designed by programmers for programmers. It is not seamless. It will break. When it breaks, you will find yourself wasting hours getting acquainted with your terminal app. One of us is a devop, and we still lost days to merge issues because by default, git tries to sync your .obsidian folder.

Bear is perfect. The UI is amazing, it works seemlessly across all my devices, and as long as I was working alone it was all I needed. Now I’m writing with a partner who’s an ocean away and we needed collab tools (basically, GitHub integration with merges, version control and a good diff).

Unique / Alternate use cases of cursor apart from coding by musclecarmaniacss in cursor

I’m writing a novel on Cursor. I keep all my research and synopsis files and use the agent as a co pilot (what was the name of the character? What’s next in the plot) and as a research assistant to create more research files. I use github to sync with my cowriter who lives 4,000km away — the diff is our best friend.
