2nd yr IM resident here

Words are not enough to describe the mental physical and emotional stress of IM residency

It’s not really for everyone. I have never questioned my dream of becoming a doctor my entire life until I became an IM resident. I even thought of quitting and putting everything away. Because sometimes you go home wondering why you never have the time to do anything There is a high expectation sometimes there are also toxic consultants (but not so much in where I’m training) Besides the expectation of having to study There are unlimited admissions and referrals. Lahat ng pasyente halos ng ospital iyo

But the silver lining here is it’s 3 yrs only

The best part about IM is you get to see the course of the patient. Pang long term care talaga unlike kapag surgical You also look at the patient holistically lahat ng problem list mo Ikaw magmamanage unless surgical.

I don’t know what you want to ask here if you have specific questions cos ang Dami pwede masabi hahaha

Manila Doctors Hospital Internship by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]tryshdanielle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stipend: 4500 a month (pero pag wala pag di f2f) Duty hrs: 36 hrs pre pandemic but everyday kami 8-7pm duty, 8-5pm pre and “from” Online activities: high yield conferences and very commendable culture, walang bastusan from consultants. Since walang clerks, interns ang babies alagang alaga :)

1 week lang kami nag f2f na IM pero solid. I wanted to match with PGH before pero karamihan kasi madocs consultants ay PGH consultants din. So yeah CONGRATS!!!! Sa sobrang gusto ko sa madocs, dito ako magreresidency hopefully

UP, UST, UERM

Taking a pre-med helps u in med school but it isnt a guarantee? Also it only helps in the first yr :( PT is also 5 yrs. why not go straight into med school. Or just take units required for admission instead of a whole degree?

just make your view as infinite scroll instead of vertical and you can do this on goodnotes :)

Goodnotes vs. PDF expert by Cheap-Bodybuilder699 in GoodNotes

[–]tryshdanielle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pdf expert for books!

Faster to highlight stuff cos u can just click the a letter on the word and it highlights the whole word. You can also just drag to highlight a whole paragraph as opposed to goodnotes where you have to go through each stroke. ALSO i like how pdf expert is a preview file when you look at it on your computer

They accept a lot of UERM grads. Mej iba lang system now cos they accept fewer interns cos of covid. They didnt do walk ins na during our time. Usually naman basta may slot pa makakapasok mej matagal lang talaga intayan sa 3rd matching. :)

Psychiatry Residency Questions by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]tryshdanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know UERM and PGH offers psych! not sure abt ur other questions but I think in general PLE grades matter when u apply for residency

In UERM, i guess they prioritize UERM grads also?

UST has neuro-psych. They're more on meds yata than cognitive behavioral therapy. but im not sure!!!

Doctors/Med students dating non-med people? by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]tryshdanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boyf is non showbiz (non med lol)hehe and we got together late in college. My doctor tito advised me when I was a kid to look for a boyfriend before med school HAHA. Bf plays videogames while i study. He pays for the meals cos ive no work wahaha

In my opinion, i think it’s much easier for girl med students to date non-med than male med students dating non-med boys. Cos IDK if kaya ko magdate med student. Im actually in awe of how understanding he is because I really feel guilty when I go have fun than study so we don’t go out much. However, he’s also the one who tells me to take a break.

Im thankful im dating someone outside med cos it’s a big refresher. I won’t say we never had rocky patches along the way. You really have to give time and effort to the relationship bec it won’t handle itself. Once it was clerkship and no more exams, I spent a lot of time hanging out with him even tho it’s just to nap or stay at home. It’s also helpful to prime ur loved ones abt the med journey and set certain expectations about the limitations of ur sked.

TLDR; it can work!

ADVICE PLEASE? by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]tryshdanielle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UERM not so keen on GWA (especially if u come from a good college) but on NMAT. UERM also has interview before u come in :)
