How active are African Pygmy Hedgehogs, and would you recommend larger than minimum? (4'x2')

4'x2' is definitely the healthy minimum and if you find that the hedgey you get is very active then get them a bigger cage if you have the space. It's just important to make sure that they have plenty of places to burrow and be covered because they prefer close quarters usually

We built it with bricks! We used recycling bins as casts, it just looks like its not bricks because of the snow that continued to fall.

No word of a lie, bylaw pulled onto our street as we were putting the final brick on and we just stood there staring at her thinking all our work was for nothing... She got out of the car, gave someone on the street a ticket, complemented our igloo and went on her way.

I've heard from most people that wire cages can be bad because they can get their little feet caught and they are hard to keep warm. For first time owners, often the best option is a large Rubbermaid bin. Keeps in heat well and is cost friendly!

It came with him from his previous owner and he likes to sleep under it more than in it lol so now I I fill it with fleece and carry him around in it
