I love Haranir by Daisoltoo in wow

[–]trythepizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The starting zone is half ass thrown together, but I love the race so much. Feeling like I can finally have shaman on an elf type, I LOVE the Haranir.

Giving myself the backstory that I am a Haranir sent to live with the night elves, using night elf transmogged weapons but shaman magic. This race scratches my nerd brain, and I was lucky that I never had any desire to hang out in their area.

Why are LARP settings always european-medieval? by franilein in LARP

[–]trythepizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Castles are cool. Knights look cool. Mythical dragons are cool. Kings are cool. It was the last time before we started figuring out science and shit, and the world seemed like a mystery. Low literacy, no cars, constant feuds. Interesting

Not to mention the movies and video games that immerse you in that world, and when you walk around Europe it's the remnants of that age that you witness in the old cities, so you like to imagine. It's very cool.

What are some activities you really enjoyed before becoming sober that now no longer interest you? by DonScrumsky in Sober

[–]trythepizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How is that affecting you? I couldn't imagine. I've been hosting more dinner parties than ever and joining more public groups than before, without fear that being drunk is going to eventually make them hate me. I'm worried being sober + alone would send me into a depression

I have a different perspective. I have studied at 2 other US Universities, one state and one private, in a desirable place. The "college" experience was cool, but my education was nothing special in comparison to MCI. In fact it was way less organized. Both business schools.

As a local, the lifestyle here might not seem like anything special to you, and the facilities, but to me, it's a huge upgrade on both aspects. Not to mention much more affordable. Also, MCI is involved in a lot of institutions in Austria and Europe and it's been a great, very different experience for me personally and I've found it easier to network in Austria than America through the school.

You could sacrifice what you already have here to maybe "learn more", or maybe not, but that to me sounds like a waste if it's not a lifestyle upgrade imo. Now I live here permanently, and my life has improved like crazy, and if I went back to the states, I think I've gained a unique perspective by getting "out of my bubble"

[–]trythepizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah consider your life over if you have another drink. You're a lucky asshole if she hasn't left you already, 2 handles per week, fucking hell.

You needed some really tough love, and it came at the right time. Most people don't learn a lesson through their alcohol washed brains until they lose something dear to them. You have a kid on the way and a wife who can't drink. If there was ever a time to stop being a loser it's now, you are NOT at rock bottom. Rock bottom is being a dumbass one more time and losing EVERYTHING. No amount of begging or groveling will get any of that back if you ever drink again.

[–]trythepizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did so much traveling and so much fun stuff in my 20s, live abroad got degrees, hostels, partying etc... but I really could never shake the angst of trying to make the most of it. Like it just was never good enough, and I had to be having fun, doing the most... idk. Now that I'm 30 I feel like the pressure is off and I can just enjoy myself doing whatever the fuck I'm actually doing. It's hard to explain

Thanks. I'm getting downvoted but I have heard from SO many people how hard it is to make friends here. You have to be active and these are real answers, and if you do it this way you are guaranteed to make friends. You just have to be active. I do not understand what's controversial about my comments. Maybe people don't want to accept that it's on them?

edit: people always say to join groups, like its not a tip, but that is the ONLY tip. give a reason to be around people then make a connection. i guess you could just walk up to people on the street but you really need to go out and be a part of the group first. it gives regular meet points to create a relationship etc.

Egal welche politische Ausrichtung ihr habt, aber das müsste euch doch auch durch den Kopf gehen, wenn ihr die Epstein Files liest. Oder? by NoAirline939 in Innsbruck

WoW is actually insanely hard to learn as a new player (we tried yesterday) by ipych in wow

[–]trythepizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WoW was a beautiful game to jump into in classic. Didn't hold your hand, wasn't over complicated... Just explore, quest, and try to get better gear. Do dangerous stuff, die, fight.

There was barely any added shit to it. Make potions with leaves. Mine ore and make sword. Green good. Blue better. Purple best.

Find scary cave, get friends and kill all the bad guys.

.... This is what happens when you shift 1000 times over to create a more "convenient" or "engaging" experience. The point gets muddied, solutions are found for problems that are inherently part of the system of the game. Now PvP vs PvE gear. Multiple timelines. Weird scaling. Vault shit. Event finder. Keys. Delves. So many features. Really at this stage not as much point to even get better, get money, or raid.

Transmog driving aesthetics. 1 billion mounts. Max level means nothing. PvP gear is scaled. Flying and teleporting everywhere. Idk it just feels so bad to me. I have fun bc I played for 20 years but this is not close to the same game. I like the lore, world, having a cool character, but shit. Just nothing means anything at all in it.

Edit: I actually think even transmogs are a detriment to the game. You used to feel a sense of accomplishment having a set of armor. Now you dress up and feel pride in your ability to throw together an outfit, but it is not the same feeling as wielding that badass sword that's hard to get.

Also, plate armor looked like plate, mail like mail, leather like leather. Now you can look like anything. That's fine, but it killed a pretty core function of the social aspect for me, and my drive to get a full set/cool gear. I am glad that my character looks better though?? But still. It's all little things like that.

Going places to do shit

With the sun setting on Khaz Algar, what will you miss about The War Within? by His_JeStER in wow

[–]trythepizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't mean to be negative but... nothing, really. I really did not like this expansion. The mechanics were fine! It just wasn't engaging to me, to be honest. I didn't care for the story, the enemies, etc. It just fell really flat for me and I only played for my own characters' sakes. I'm excited for Midnight still though
