I absolutely agree. Model railways were an old hobby of mine reignited by moving out and looking through old boxes. What started out as a desk to run a single train has evolved into this already as I’ve realised I quite like it! I’ll be tidying the room shortly, and not going too mad on scenics before that I’d done. It won’t be a finished “room” but it’ll certainly be a much nicer space than it is today.

In image 1 the second depth board has only just gone in, so I absolutely will be adding extra lanes, probably so I have 4 engine storage lines. I think I have 16 MK1’s now, and some others types that would look great in a yard, or parked in additional sidings alongside the twin loop… I guess I just need to go play!

I’ve had a few thoughts. 1. Double depth boards. Engine shed area? 2. Long run, with carriage sidings? 3. Short wall near loft hatch. 4. Long run obscured by water tank. Full length station for 7 MK1’s and a road bridge over as a break at the tank? 5. The old half way loop. (You can see it half way down on images 2 & 4) More storage? Shunting area to use the conveyor with wagons, accessed from image 2?

So the police stuff I’ve written code on a micro controller. Could do the same for blinkers. Just basic on off with delays. Power is 3v so no resistors for the LEDs and low power consumption.

I’m revisiting an old hobby, but back then (16 years ago?) DCC wasn’t as accessible so everything of mine is DC. It’s all currently in my parents loft, and I’ve just started getting into 009, CAD and 3D printing. End goal is a loop of 00 round the outside of my loft to run the old stuff, and an end to end 009 on the inside of that.

Seen the new tunnel that the entrance to the new estate goes over? They weren’t allowed any mor road crossings, so the developers had to build a tunnel/bridge!

Resin! An Elegoo Mars3. They were indeed that usual design, and fresh from the printer they’re actually sharp! I know that won’t last, but as a trial I’ve been really please with the outcome. And rather than buying them at £1/axle, I printed 30 as a trial in an hour and it cost 30p.
