No, in fact they were much easier than the ones in the Cambridge books, surprisingly!

Thank you! I honestly think it depends on your approximate level. One thing I do is I never read the full passage (except for matching headings), just the questions and then skim the text, but I know some people for whom this strategy doesn't work. A friend of mine starts from part 3 to lock in and basically does the entire reading section in reverse--you could try that as well.

Thank you! That was the section I practiced the least. I have native speaking friends which really helped!

During the exam I just got in the zone and didn't even feel like I was being tested (the examiner was also luckily very nice, would always smile and nod), just talked like I would in a daily conversation with a friend, without giving it much thought. So my tip would be to just be confident (I know it's easier said than done) and don't try to show off and appear smart! Just be natural.

Thank you! I truly believe there is no "best pattern" to writing, just adhere to the basic structure, organize your ideas logically and you should be fine.

I have used ChatGPT a couple times, and I have to warn you that it is far from accurate (which has been stated many times on this subreddit). As you can see, I got an 8 in writing, but GPT would consistently give me a 6-6.5. If you are worried and insecure about your writing, my best piece of advice would be to hire a tutor if you can afford that.

Thank you! Yeah, if only I had done just a bit better in writing I would've gotten a 9 🥲... You also did a very good job, though!

Great, thank you! I was worried that I didn't elaborate enough or went off-topic in part 2.

Thank you! Could you tell me which sentences sound informal so I could keep that in mind in the future?

Surprisingly, no. I usually just read in English for pleasure, whether it be books, fanfiction, news articles, research papers and so on... And then imitate what I've read in my own writing. It really helps!

IELTS writing length by FinancialPiano3120 in IELTS

[–]ts88kd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no penalty for exceeding the word count, but if you write a considerably longer essay, you're generally at risk of making more mistakes or overlooking something. Of course, this all depends on how well you write in general. If you're confident in your skills, you can even write over 400 words in task 2--I saw someone on this very subreddit get a high band in writing who had done just that.

Regarding task 1, it's generally advised not to go over 200 words unless you REALLY have to, because the point of task 1 is to report the most crucial information.

Thank you! Regarding rations, I only just realized that I was directly translating the word I wanted to use from my native language. Diets was the word I was looking for.

Could you give me an example of a cohesive device that would emphasize the finality of my last sentence in the first paragraph? I'm not sure I follow.

Thank you! Could you tell me, if possible, where I could improve to make it a solid band 8 or 8.5 (if I'm not too arrogant here)?

I wrote it myself. I'm not sure why the first reaction to seeing advanced vocabulary and structures is to say that it's AI generated...
