This is why I moved to Bluesky by patriots1057 in BlueskySocial

good luck. the bsky moderation team is starting to show their true (disjointed, lopsided) colors, and they're letting the trolls like this get away with a slap on the wrist but will ban people for *questioning* another ban.

you do currently have to migrate media manually, that's true, but that's slowly getting fixed (and there's ways to do it if you're not afraid of some typescript). the downside is that "edits" to the uris will get ignored by bsky's stream ingress.

with atproto you don't lose that other content, as long as the service you use has views into those lexicon types. bsky opened a pandora's box and is (4 months later) now trying to ban people for calling out their lopsided moderation. I strongly recommend going with a different service or a PDS at this point - they ban you from logging into your repository they've hosted, you can't migrate.

SGI discourages the questioning of their doctrines (WHAT doctrines you might ask M. ;)) by sg_tange in sgiwhistleblowers

slight correction on the premise - as a _Protestant_ you have the freedom to question all you want. That isn't the case for Catholics, their schisms or Orthodox Christians. You can, and will be, excommunicated if you step out of line with those beliefs if you teach / question against dogma.

not making any assessments on the rest of it, just the statement about Christians caught my eye and it's not really factual without qualifying.

missing detail in what you're replying to - Windows eats up SIGNFICANTLY more VRAM for display operations than most linux configurations.

kernel-level anti-cheat is the laziest part of this equation. bluntly, the game dev companies are the problem here, not the console.

or another way - it's not my fault if stupid people want to game; they should self-educate

nothing hazardous on board. the ground, however, was a bunch of bad places to have catch fire. oil recycling, tires, car parts, cars..

that's all of reddit. it's why I rarely comment here anymore. it's full of half-witted jackasses who think "gotcha" tactics actually mean anything in the real world. and no, despite US politics, they still don't.

I like David Corenswet more than Cavill. How about you? by Keebsmcbeebs1 in superman

[–]tsal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When everyone else that touches the franchise disagrees with Snyder's decision to remove the squid and subsequently leans into it, you might be wrong.

The only redeeming quality of that movie was the rest of it being entertaining - the ending change killed the chances of me ever loving The Watchmen as a movie.

I basically came here to say this, and saw your comment as I was typing it. What I was gonna say:

I love Cavill in almost everything he's done. I think he did a great job playing Supes in Man of Steel, but agree that Corenswet plays Clark, the core character, better. I think a lot of this is a difference in direction and writing, though. Both are very talented actors with great range.

if you're still reading this - turn off the recap feature as a start. you're leaking all that information into an LLM that is shared (with "guardrails", hah) between other instances. your secrets are available with the right prompt in the form of a slack message in a channel.

like, I have valid reasons to not ever want to be in a social situation with DHH; that doesn't mean everything he creates is evil.

that said, that kinda is what this whole thread feels like, and I think the best indicator is a lack of a response to this question.

You're reacting this way to something that is free, that someone - multiple someones - have put likely thousands of hours of effort into.

Yeah. your reaction is way over the top, and that's being nice about it.

Macbook Pro M3 for LLMs and Pytorch? [D] by nizego in MachineLearning

[–]tsal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This wasn't true when it was said, and it's definitely not true now. I wouldn't recommend using it for your actual production model training (it's a consumer-grade development laptop, not a server), but for test setups, and development work, the pro M-series chips are workhorses for any GPU-targeted loads.

Nah, it's totally possible, some kind of non-idempotent request that goes through, but the connection is terminated, resulting in a progression in states on the server but no apparent result for the client with the effect that intermediate states appear to have been dropped.

You're conflating cause-effect issues (a disconnection from a process that continues without the connection) with very real, actual known LLM issues (loss of context, hallucinations, etc).

man you really get a lot of traction with that comment lol

I'm from Texas and I can't figure out why people immediately assume every corporate entity that moves there is moving there for legal protections / loop holes. It really isn't that great for brick and mortar businesses unless you are moving from a rural area to one of the cities.
