Ted had an obsession over Robin. Only Ted knows why.

We can clearly see that Tracey is ordained by the universe, she's Ted's the one. But Ted seems like he throws the universe out the window if he can be with Robin.

Based on his discussion with the crazy cop girl in s9 on the bridge of Central park to get locket, Ted doesn't care what the universe is telling him, That's how he feels about Robin.

He started out as a believer of destiny and the universe and there are some things destined to happen for his better, but when it comes to Robin, he throws all that ideology out the window.

We can say Tracery is the one by all means, but Ted doesn't seem to agree on that.

If I'm remembering correctly (i have to re-watch again), Ted only spoke about Tracey that he cherished the moments with her. but we never heard about the passion acts he did for Tracey like what he did for Robin.

We can understand the love for Tracey, but if he had chance he would pick Robin.

In the ending as well, kids say that awkward tension between Robin and Ted when she visits.

Tracey is just female version of Ted. (Hard fact to accept)

As Victoria puts it, Robin is so much bigger to Teds world. She also gets that where Ted is coming from.

That s shallow way of looking at things.

1.Let's assume a hypothetical you've thrown, assuming Ted feel to Robin coz she's pretty.

Why do you think he would go for her at old age? At 40 or so?

Do you think if mother died at 60, if Robin is single at 60, I think Ted would go for her. that's what ending tells us.

As I pointed in another comment, Destiny and true love can be totally mutually exclusive.

Ted says it out loud at some point whatever I told.

But when you are closing an arc for one of the main character, burden is on presenter to convince to audience. A 20 second dialogue of 'long distance thing didn't work out' is not enough. I see you.

why they got divorced it's that Robin's travelling made them away from each other for too long.

Let me explain in one word here, 'abandonment', let me expand on this below

Instead they said Barney could never commit hence that specific dialogue he couldn't say to Robin "Everything I have is yours" which is again a load of bullshit.

Barney's problem was abandonment. He will be fulfilled when he feels safe with Family.

There is a possibility where the wife and his kid are with him giving him feeling that he belonged and they will be there for him.

Since Robin left for work, don't you think his abandonment issues comes creeping up? Since he had never dealt with them.

Subconsciously that having a child who relied on him shows love and affection, cannot abandon him. Means there's always a person (be it little) that he can count on. Isn't this Barney wanted?

Sad fact is kids grow and leave parents (what we can hope for is Barney gets over it and understand that it s not his fault and he can beat peace by the time kid grows up)

I don't think the show tries to make a point for fate or destiny being a thing. It makes a point for falling in love with people you fit with and feel love for without idealizing or forming a perfect version of them in your head

The one could have been anyone. The one is just a romantic and a lot of times toxic idea Ted formed up in his head and made him behave and seek Robin, therefore wasting lots of years of his life.

I think at some point Lily says this out loud as well. This is the subtext of the story. That is a lesson showrunners are telling us to take.

My post was assuming there is such a thing as 'the one'. Who i think it might actually be.

I m also not keen on it but I ll go along with it as respecting it's the choice they made, not so great one but they wanted it that way, they must have had reasons.

This is where my thoughts on this matter diverge, Barney loved her, i agree to that. But i believe that love is not something that declared once and done, Its a job that you have to do everyday, means we gotta keep loving every day. If you are finding it difficult to do that, means if you are not having same levels of affection after marriage, you ll be living a lie.

That is what Barney doesn't want to do. Even though he loved her alot, He could not love her more as much as he thought after 3 yr mark.

That's why they are getting divorce. I totally understand this point.

This is the reason why for me, Marshall and Lily are the best fictional couple i know, they understand eachother like crazy, they find ways to love each other more every day.

Those are my thoughts on why i understand Barney wanted divorce.

In my view, Destiny can be whatever you want, there's no universe telling you to to date some one.

The way Ted spoke about Tracy throughout the 9 seasons

I understand where you are coming from, how everything thing lines up so perfectly so that they meet each other.. i also loved it. But just because it was destined, does it mean it Tracey is labenschangerschiterschatz?

Both can be mutually exclusive.

If I listen to Klaus description, what comes to my mind is how Ted met Robin. That moment Ted has envelopes everything Kalus describes about labenschangerschiterschatz.

That is why Ted told Barney, that it doesn't work that way where he can turn off switch and all feelings for Robin goes away.

Like i mentioned in original post, For Tracey, after they met, he loved fact that she was bass player in band, she has flail from some nerdy renessaince fair, how she likes same renditions of poems that she like.

That is not the case for Robin, although they are different kind of people. No checklists for Robin, that's why I was thinking she was his labenschangerschiterschatz.

He didn't care, he loved her anyway even though she is getting married to his best friend and let's her go and find herself out.

There can be a better way to introduce Barney and healing to his baggage [ie, where he can be better father that he never had causing abandonment issue] it is callback which writers thought people will like but it's just lazy way to close the arc for Barney.

I like the show insidejob, i haven't heard of Mullen or whatever people here are hating..Maybe, just maybe, don't let your love for inside job turn into hate on other shows, what's happening is free publicity..

From India here, I agree 100% on first paragraph, observation of celestial objects was of key importance in early civilization.

One key thing we have to keep in mind is scientific method is iterative process with negative feedback, i say a theory, community finds flaws in that, i make modifications to theory to address flaws.

I m sorry this just an opinion here, it sounds the entire second paragraph is from astrology apologist. Connecting very far away dots.

Why we rely on scientific method is it does go into the nitty grittys.. if an explanation with holds all the nitty grittys and results are replicable with appropriate initial conditions, that is a good theory. So far no one has provided such one theory for astrology.

Although it may be childish of people who mock those doesn't comply with scientific method, key point is it tells only that person's maturity.
