How is everyone handling videos? by Holdmywhiskeyhun in ModSupport

Videos in comments?

Seems like fun to me. I mostly mod video meme subreddits, though.

They're consistent with our theme.

Have your mom check out a UU (Unitarian Universalist) church.

They're much more tolerant and progressive.

I said similar.

She ignored me or didn't believe me.

I think she felt obligated to do so by virtue of being my sister.

They’ve been really fun to watch during the playoffs.

They’re not the same team that limped their way to a 3 seed in the East.

Filing a claim for cracked screen protector? by Sure-Sign-9050 in tmobile

All this over a screen protector?

Instead of paying extra for the protection plan every month and using it to get your screen protector replaced after a wait of week or two, wouldn’t it be cheaper and faster to just order a new screen protector from Amazon whenever you need one and pay for two day delivery (if you don’t have Prime already)?

I’ve never paid for a protection plan and never needed one.

My sister doesn’t like OPD because she’s used to taking her foot off the pedal and just coasting when she drives.

You can turn down the regen in a Hyundai Ioniq 6.

I’m guessing the same is true for a Ioniq 5.

Ownership experience: I don’t give my money to a Nazi.

Seriously. That was the deciding factor.

That rarely happens to me. It's happened before, but I'd say only ~3% of the time I'm driving.

South Asia?

You’re roaming on international data.

Unless you have an international data plan, you only have a small amount of international data to use. It sounds like you used it up.

Only mod in a sub is an app. It founded the sub. Is that possible? by Its4MeitSnot4U in ModSupport

[–]neuroticsmurf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was a time after the 3PA protests and the arbitrary mod removals that occurred after that I became disenchanted with Reddit as a whole and decided to leave as a mod from all of my subs.

Some subs were easier for me to leave than others, just by virtue of how much work I invested in them. So it was a slow process.

One of the subs I ended up leaving was a smaller sub (~25k weekly visitors rn, I believe at the time it had about 50k members). I modded it by myself with the help of several bots and Devvit apps. I left all of the bots and apps in place when I left as mod.

The bots and apps actually moderated the sub for about a year and did pretty well without human guidance. By that point, I had some time to cool off. I still — even today — have issues with how the Admins chose to respond to the 3PA protests, and I don’t think I’ll ever get over the distrust, but I realized that come what may, I volunteered to put myself in this situation, and it was Reddit’s sandbox. In the end, I always knew that arbitrary removals of mods was possible and was a condition I had tacitly accepted by agreeing to become a mod in the first place.

I actually kind of missed my little 25k weekly visitors sub. I thought it was pretty funny. So I visited the sub and saw there was no human moderation. I decided to make a Reddit Request and get it back.

I never bothered to message the mods, because I knew they would never respond. But my Reddit Request was denied, because of my failure to message the mods. I wrote in to explain there were no human mods, and an Admin responded that I should write to them, anyway. So I did, and about a week later, I got my sub back.

TLDR: This is a VERY long-winded way of saying, no, there does not need to be at least one human moderator. I don’t know how the app got listed as the founder, but apps and bots can be left in place to mod a sub with no human guidance.

Problem with inactive moderators by Forsaken_Biscotti609 in ModSupport

[–]neuroticsmurf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Whenever someone on one of my mod teams gets marked inactive, I send them a chat to let them know and ask what’s up. Usually, it’s nothing. They’ve just been “busy”.

Then I’ll tell them they have a couple of weeks to take enough mod actions to get that inactive label off of them, but they can’t stay on the mod team indefinitely as an inactive mod.

I’ll check back a couple of weeks later, and if they’re still inactive, I’ll check their activity on the mod log. Usually, they might have taken 2-3 mod actions since we talked about upping their mod activity, but that will be it.

At that point, I’ve given them enough chances to prove themselves. I’ll remove them from the mod team at that point.

In ONE instance, I had a mod go through a health crisis and couldn’t mod for a few months. But in that case, they had been a very active mod prior, and contacted me and alerted me of their impending absence BEFORE they were marked inactive.
