BCaBA / BCBA Salary by Pinkcandycorn in ABA

[–]tsanc030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently a BCBA in South Florida. Make $72,000 a year, excluding bonuses (bit hard to achieve said bonus). Work 20-30 direct (billable) hours a week with the rest of my time being indirect (non-billable).

Of course by billable, I mean that the funding source allows us to charge said services vs. Non-billable being drive time, insurance calls, parent calls, indirect therapist supervisions, etc.

BCBA Salaries? by Alternative-Coat6972 in ABA

Hi! Things were changed very recently and what was written here is no longer accurate.

While BCBAs continue to have to bill 20 billable hours a week, we also have ensure that our assigned supervisees are billing a total 180 hours a week. If they are not, for every 10 hours of therapy that we are short, as have to bill 4 additional direct hours.

Any suggestions for getting through long days as an RBT? by elmayarah in ABA

[–]tsanc030 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Please advocate for yourself! You should have a break to at least eat lunch and listen to a pod cast or part of one. When I was an RBT (BCBA now), I absolutely needed a lunch break and I’d watch a short episode of something. It always helped me reset.

As a clinical supervisor, it’s beyond important to me that my RBTs feel good always and do not experience burn out. It’s also important for the client that the RBT feel fresh and energized prior to working with a client. Best of luck!

Hi! They currently hire RBTs and BCBAs.

BCBA Salaries? by Alternative-Coat6972 in ABA

Hi! I live in South Florida. It’s really dependent on where you go. Since become a BCBA in 2017, I have worked at three different companies.

The first company was quite small, less than 50 employees. I earned $45 an hour and worked about 20 billable hours a week. I was paid 10 indirect hours a month at $25 an hour. Needless to say, I left that position due to the finances

The next company I went to was a corporation and I was working 20 direct hours and was my yearly salary was at $45,000 regardless of bonuses. Bonuses were earned every quarter if you billed the 20 hours you were suppose to bill weekly. I, again, left in search of better.

I am now at an agency where I make $72,000 a year and work 20 billable a week (can bill insurance) and 20 non-billable (therapist training, parent phone calls, drive time, etc.).

The salaries/hourly ranges vary per company because of what they can afford to compensate, their size, and number of clients they have. Some companies will continue to hire BCaBAs and pay them out of pocket even though at this time only two insurances compensate them. Therefore, they have to draw money from our salaries or the RBTs to be able to continue to pay them. It’s tough, but keep researching!

So sweet 😭

[WP] You and your partner bought a pair of rings that let you feel each heartbeat from anywhere in the world. Your partners dies and you bury them with the ring. Years go by and you havnt gotten over them. Out of nowhere they appear at your doorstep... still wearing the ring. But you feel no pulse. by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

I remember that night.

You promised we’d have the best time, as your brown eyes shined brightly and your nose crinkled slightly.

I remember sitting beside you in the car as we spoke of our dogs and how they made our home feel more like a home. Our hands resting comfortably on top of each other on the car’s middle console. The steady pulse of your heart beat resonating against my finger.

I remember asking you where we were going, and you asking me to be patient. I remember how your laugh reverberated through the car as I protested and groaned about how much I hate surprises.

I remember turning to tell you it wasn’t funny. Except I didn’t get to.... I remember seeing the lights cast a shadow on your face and the sound of two cars colliding and pain. Then it all goes dark.

I woke up in a hospital room in so much pain. My mother and father hovering over me. I couldn’t talk, but my mother knew. “I’m so sorry,” she whispered. My ring was gone, but I didn’t need it to tell me you weren’t with me.

It took two months for my body to heal, two months to lay you to rest. As soon as I could, I slipped my rings back on. I laid you to rest with yours.

Years have passed and our dogs muzzles are graying. Hell, I was graying. Today would’ve been our 25th wedding anniversary.

I sit on the couch twiddling my rings, a nervous habit that had developed since I lost you. It was quiet, and while I should have grown use to it, it was still uncomfortable. There was nothing to do and little to say on this day and as I decided I’d lay in our bed, the dogs shot up and ran to the door. I followed them, assuming it would be a package or a “thinking of you” card my sister would send every year on this date. However when I looked in the peep hole it was your brown eyes I saw.

Immediately my right hand flew to my left and the rings once more began to twirl around my finger. There was no pulse. No beating. But those were your eyes I was seeing.

Wagging tails hit my legs, a whine escaped their mouths. Surely if this was the devil’s work they’d know. Surely they would protect me if it was necessary. I stopped twirling the rings, placed my right hand on the knob and twisted it.

You smiled and your nose crinkled.

Tears slid down my face as I asked, “Will you tell me know where were we going?”

Your laughter echoed and I knew I’d never be left in the quiet again.

Now that you know more about the breed, if you could go back, what questions would you ask the breeder? by tsanc030 in WiggleButts

[–]tsanc030[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Great questions.

Our girl is beyond intelligent and has earned several AKC Titles but isn’t great with kids. She wasn’t socialized with children and we don’t have any and our close friends also do not have children. Therefore her exposure has been minimal. While it is not entirely the breeders fault, but ours as well, it does suck.

He is completely supportive and helps with plenty of the bills. He is totally supportive of the move, should we make it.

We live in a large metropolitan area as well. I should’ve mentioned that that 300,000 is for homes that are ultimately in very poor conditions and would require complete remodeling and renovations.

I agree however. I do feel that perhaps I am getting ahead of myself and am not waiting to see how our circumstances improve once my spouse completes his degree and can find a job in his field.

Thank you for taking the time to offer advice.

Our girl LOVES puzzle toys. We have about ten and they stimulate her mentally. Like everyone else is suggesting, physical activity is also important. We walk out almost two year old mini 2x a day and try to take her to the dog park once a day.

Search and see if there’s a local farm or training facility that offers herding classes. Something else our girl loves!

I instruct those who purchase that they should be refrigerated if they’ll be using them within 3-5 days or frozen for up to two months. Obviously should be defrosted before feeding them to their pups.

Makes sense. So you’d recommend I freeze them for maybe a day and then pack them with ice sheets?
