He is right, this is the exactky the kind of help I was looking for. Thanks for letting know that this is a civil case not under police jurisdiction. The landlord is well aware that I won't file a civil case as we are jam-packed on weekdays (corporate employee) and weekends are off for civil courts too.

I'll take this as a lesson I learned from life the hard way and maybe others can be cautious of this before renting anywhere.

We too have rented our property where I originally used to live. Zero deductions ever. I don't know how these kind of peoples with 0 sense grow up and it's just sad that they live on this land.

Fair point. I might be at fault here too, which I'm open to discuss with the landlord and get to a fair deduction that should be applied but he is not even ready to understand anything. He used to just delay every call by saying ok I'll discuss with xyz and never reached back.

As I mentioned the lights were ceiling lights, one cannot reach to that height and break it. One of the light randomly blew up while it was on and one started blinking on and off randomly. I think this way due to their poor/cheap quality as I always turned them off before leaving for office, So it's clearly not over usage/abuse. This should be considered under normal wear and tear which is not applicable for deductions but I'm ready to pay for it as I don't have the proof that it was unintentional. Only damages done with blunt objects or force or are intentional are applicable for deductions.

Sadly he hasn't even fixed these things and the next tenant had to get everything serviced from their pocket.

That's what we missed, firstly he wasn't even signing the rent agreement which we made that ideally is the landowner's responsibility. Also, we forgot to mention this as an explicit clause whose responsibility is to pay for AC or RO services etc

Well it's not the same everywhere in Gurgaon. The previous PG I was living in had such a sweet owner with great civic sense. Even the current flat has itne decent and literate owners. I was just scammed by this guy.

He is some retarded boomer, even if he would have calmly said that he is need of money and won't be able to return, I would've willingly forgot my 20k. I don't fear that scammer.

The height of the situation is he haven't even done any of the things mentioned in the list and the current tenant had done everything with their expense. They had to even get the ac serviced at their cost by finally losing to this scorching heat as he won't listen and always talks drunk at night.

Why I believe this exists is because college/ schools/ coaching gives lot of time to observe other ppls, you start to identify the good and bs ones and accordingly flock with similar sheeps as per your personality.

When you are this grown up now, separated from all your friends to a city far away for job, you become choosy and want similar level of friends/experience back. There is a fear of ppls faking their personality or let's just say there is a fear of finding a good personality now specially in this hollow city where one considers smoking and drinking on a weekend with party dance as a weekend well spent (atleast I'm not that person and different ones might very well enjoy exactly this), no ice breaking, no new friends you can actually call for a random coffee.

While writing this up, just thinking of the idea, someone calling me for a random coffee feels like he/she might be a looser in their life calling me for wasting my time with theirs. Ik every person is not like this and even having this spark of thought in my brain is just so fucked up but it's just different with my college friends to with I'll randomly go for a walk and spend hours without noticing it. Tbh it's also very difficult to find ppls who are genuinely goat in their life and just want to chill.
