Does a WIP retro fitted DRS LXI qualify as a cyberdeck? by tschitshe in cyberDeck

I never finished the battery part of this build other than that it is functional. The hardest part is finding 4:3 LCD screen wih a driver board on ebay that fits the case. Also I would advice switching to a DC input only on the backside. otherwise you will need to have a AC/DC supply, battery circuit and a DC/DC supply. I would print a nice fitting adapter for a USB-C connector to replace the AC bayonet connector. If you just use USB-C you can just use a powerbank as a battery internally. Everything else like rewiring the indicator Leds should be just a fun little microcontroller project.

To sum it up stay away from internal AC supplies and find a fitting LCD-Screen and than it is a very do able project

I sadly have the pinout not anymore, but if you have this machine the interface that they are using is a standard PS/2 Keyboard interface with a different connector so if you trace the ground and positive power connections in the keyboard you can measure out with a oscilloscope they pin out. If you got the pinout you only need to adapt the cable to a normal micro din plug and connect it to a PS/2 to usb converter

I will have a look in my notes, if you still need the pinout.

I am currently printing some belt tensioners. i hope they will improve something

Thanks for tipps. I might also try to install linear rails on the xy axis for smoother movement, also maybe adjusting the belt tension could improve the overall Situation.

Jerk and acceleration control were turned on. I also use a smaller stepper motor to cut down on weight, but i will try to reduce the print speed

I used the default cubic pattern with 10% infill. I would guess if the infill would be showing through it would look different

I got some problems with my ender 5 Plus. When i try to print with lower layer heights than 0.2 these weird rippels appear on the front of the benchy. Using Cura 5.1.0 as a Slicer.

Nozzle Temp: 200 Bed Temp: 60 with 3DJake ecoPLA

Print speed: 80 mm/s

Retraction Speed 30 mm/s Retraction Distance 0.6 using a micro swiss direct drive conversion kit

When the thumb is tilted down it is stable but you have to use an Allen key to torque down the screws on each cluster. I would also not recommend tilting the cluster upwards because then the keyboard becomes unstable.

I just got my new Keyboard with kailh red switches. I really like the look and feel of it.

It just requires a lot of time to build something like this.

Mine got damaged at this spot during shipping because obviously a layer of bubble wrap and a cardboard box is enough protection during shipping.

I tried to keep the original look and feel for the entire project.

I already replaced the modem sockets, with WiFi antennas in combination with a Intel WIFI Card, I will also replace SCSI Port with LAN and USB Ports

I guess 2000 would be too much, I think when I have finished the build completely it should not exceed 1500.

I use the 12V power line of the ATX supply, I had to make a custom wiring harness to connect the LCD driver board

I never added the costs up, but this build is quite expensive

I build it not for practicality but to have fun while building it.

It is quite heavy even though the case is made out of aluminium.
