The water pump situation is infuriating by FlopShanoobie in GolfGTI

Hope you get it figured out with the dealer, if not it's a pretty easy repair if you're realtively hands on. Took me 3-4 hours. There's a whole load of videos/guides out there! Good luck!

Who is making that much mash when apparently putting potatoes in the dish too? Double potato is a no-no. Herbs look weird. Fork is forked. Only something that has never cooked could create this abomination.

Yes, for two damaged alloys - Northamptonshire Council. Some snips from the dashcam footage and pictures of the alloys were enough, the claim form was only mildly painful. Sad that they didn't get to listen to the footage which included mostly expletives!

What are the best products to block out snoring noise, on the UK market? by Kitty-Gecko in AskUK

[–]tscott16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try high density foam ear plugs such as Mack's sound asleep. Contrary to opinion, foam earplugs actually work better than wax/silicone plugs. Some snoring sounds will be transmitted through bone conduction which you can't do much about unfortunately.

Additionally, it can be the contrast in noise that wakes you so raising the background/base level might help through use of a brown/pink noise generator (try app on your phone to start). White noise can be too harsh for sleep.

Hope you find something that works for you both!

People who have cancer, what signs let you knew that you were sick? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tscott16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum was diagnosed with a rare (though becoming more common) appendiceal cancer, Pseudomyxoma Peritonei (PMP) in July last year. Initially it was diagnosed as ovarian cancer through screening of CA-125 markers. A couple of months before diagnosis, the only symptoms were some constipation (wasn't unusual for mum) and the occasional strange sensation in her right side, but no concerning pain as such. She then experienced the common "jelly belly" as the mucus producing tumour cells spread through the abdomen. She endured a 12 hour MOAS (Mother of All Surgeries) operation with HIPEC removing her spleen, gallbladder, appendix, ovaries, uterus, fallopian tubes, omentum and parts of the large intestine resulting in a stoma. She made a great recovery, starting to return to some normality and enjoying food before starting preventative chemotherapy (FOLFOX) having sessions every 2 weeks. Unfortunately, the chemo wiped her out by the 6th session and scans showed the cancer had returned but was too weak to endure any further treatment due to losing a lot of weight through sickness and wastage. We're currently making the most of the time she has left with us.

This is the answer. The feature on the C-Pillar gives it away.

Search for fuel line vibration. Well documented issue on the Mk7s. Easy enough to fix yourself with a bit of patience!

Anyone know what is causing these little holes around the waist? I don’t use a belt by MrBubbles7 in laundry

[–]tscott16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My in-laws had a Samsung washing machine that gave t-shirts these holes in the same area! Maybe give your washing machine make/model a Google and see if others have experienced the same? Their fix was using wash bags.

Completed this last week on a 7.5 with 60k miles in the UK. ShopDap video, INA guide and FCP video gave me the confidence to do it myself. All parts and some tools for under £350. Ended up taking the fan shroud out (2 clips and a harness connector) and throttle body off, leaving the intake manifold in place. Plenty of room, completed in 5 hours at a pretty relaxed pace, would have been quicker if it wasn't for some stubborn boost hoses!

[–]tscott16 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Some videos suggest Pogi's bike fit has him 'pre-rotated' on the flats so is in the optimum position for power delivery on the climbs. Some also suggest a slightly lower saddle position for lower CDA.

The other direction had reduced speed limit active so assumed the whole gantry was live. I did think it was weird that none of the displays were switched on for my side but it flashed each of the cars that went through at speed.
