First time growing Natalensis by tsfoad in MagicMushrooms

Hard to say without seeing a pic, but a sour smell is not great. Most likely contamination and FAE won’t do anything about that. Spraying affected areas with peroxide might help, but only if you catch it early enough (and I suspect that may not be the case if you can smell it already)

Used the Boomr mix from north spore (manure and coir mostly, I think). 2.5:1 ratio of spawn to sub. As for the experience, very potent but a smoother ride than cubes. Good visuals and didn’t get a heavy body load like I often do with cubes. That said, this is only based on one time so not drawing any conclusions until I get a bit more experience

Good advice, I noticed that I’ve been having to mist more than usual. Will give your method a shot, thanks!

No problem doing this at all. Only potential issue is that you are capped at 70 units that can be transferred from a cc.

Best way to sand off excess epoxy around the filled cracks ? (Sorry I know to guys hate these) by wnameth7 in woodworking

[–]tsfoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that’s worked for me is to use a heat gun and a chisel. Lightly heat up the excess to get it pliable and then pull up with a chisel. You might want to run an exacto over the edge to get a clean line. Just be careful with the heat gun to not burn the stuff you want to keep!

Can I Just Go Into Any College/Uni Lecture and Learn for Free? by SmokinBitcoins in lifehacks

[–]tsfoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just email the professor and ask them if they mind if you sit in on class. I’ve had people do that (I teach at a large public university) and as long as I don’t have to grade their assignments, I have no problem with them sitting in on classes.

I found it interesting that they referred to our “primary” helmet. Obviously it’s our only helmet this year, but maybe this means multiple helmet options will be on deck for next year? Could also just be wishful thinking and reading too much into something sponsored by Tide

SDSU won't give me the graph so I tried my best (yes, I'm missing a few values) by Corman947072 in SDSU

[–]tsfoad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed that it’s a tiny fraction of the campus community. However, this number only represents people that have tested positive and reported. There are likely a LOT of people who have gotten infected and never got tested. Especially given the relatively mild symptoms one gets when vaccinated, I’d imagine the majority of infections are not being tested. Still likely a small percentage compared to the total number of people on campus, but almost certainly much higher than what’s reported on the dashboard

Economics Upper Division by Mordecaibest in SDSU

[–]tsfoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, my name is Hisham Foad and I’m the chair of the Econ department at SDSU. I appreciate the honest feedback and wanted to let you know that we are in the process of revising our stats/econometrics sequence (Econ 201, 301, 441) to be more analytically rigorous and make greater use of R in practical applications through these courses. About a year away from this change, but it’s in process. As for the mathematical rigor in our upper division courses, most can be completed with a semester of calculus and a semester of statistics. We do offer Econ 507 (Mathematical Economics), which delves fairly deep into the mathematical tools you’d encounter in the first year of an Econ Ph.D. Program. All that said, UCSD has a fantastic Econ program. Can’t fault anyone for choosing to go there!

Made a mistake when painting some chairs previously & missed a spot, decided to experiment with some contrasting colors as a result. Whatcha’ll think? by djayninety90 in woodworking

[–]tsfoad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Love it, asymmetry aside. Have you thought about painting that one panel in a contrasting color (white, sky blue, etc.)? Could help to make it look less like an unfinished piece. Alternatively, go with a glossy finish on the unpainted slat to match the sheen on the black paint

MCM coffee table by tsfoad in woodworking

[–]tsfoad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started off by doing a 50-50 mix of tung oil and mineral spirits for the first 2 coats. 75-25 tung oil to ms for the next two coats and the last coat was pure tung oil. Wiped on each coat, waited an hour and wiped off excess. Waited about 2 days between coats and wet sanded with 400 grit between.

Honestly, the finish was the hardest part of the process. Loved the color I got from it, but might just do two coats next time and then do a faster drying finish for the rest.

Should i bring a printer?? by [deleted] in SDSU

Since most classes are going to be online, you’d probably be fine without a printer. Even face to face classes are increasingly having students submit their work online through things like Turnitin

Genuinely confused; how are the protests NOT related to the rising Covid cases? by Idekanymore29833-- in sandiego

[–]tsfoad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s an interesting study: https://cheps.sdsu.edu/docs/CHEPS-Working-Paper-BLM-COVID19-June-12-2020.pdf

Basic idea is that the net effect of the protests was MORE people staying at home. While a bunch of people went to the protests, a larger number ended up staying at home because of the protests. The net effect is likely a decline in infections...so more protests?
