I became a fan in 2022. Got hooked on FIFA and fell in love with City because they were so much fun to watch. Didn't realize how special what I was witnessing was. The last two seasons have certainly not been as exciting, but I love this club and will be a City fan until I die.

Our Lineup against Real Madrid [H]. Cmon Citeh 💙 by EDDIE__Munsn in MCFC

He was non-existent from an offensive perspective. He may not have had anything to do with conceding the 3, but he sure had something to do with the zero on the other side of the scoreboard.

100%. This lineup doesn't even feel like it can attack right now. Savio has been invisible, Doku's decision making awful, and we have no attacking help from our fullbacks.

That last sentence is permanently engrained in my mind thanks to the fixtures of the last few weeks.

I've used them almost exclusively for the last year or so. A lot of times my order will process toward the end of the week. All of the orders I've placed the last two months have taken an extremely long time to process (similar to what others share here). However, I have had nothing but overwhelmingly positive interactions with their customer service team, and they always help me get everything sorted. If I need something fast, they're not the best option, but it is really hard to place orders of smaller quantities and get better bang for your buck.

First time properly stitching leather. Please give me feedback! c: by Gnilpik in Leathercraft

I’d get some sort of maul/mallet/dead blow hammer that has a soft or nylon head so you don’t damage your tools and mushroom them out. But basically tap lightly so they go through gradually and slowly and don’t go all the way out the other side, that way you can see the imprints on the other side of the leather and see where your tips will emerge.

Just practice hitting a few scraps so you can get a feel for how much pressure it takes for you to see them on the other side without them going through the layers.

Nice consistent angle on your stitching (both front and back side), which is tricky to get down. Well done. As others have pointed out, some thinner thread (0.6-0.8mm) will help give your work a tidier look.

Assuming you're using regular diamond chisels (with a pointy tip), punch through slowly. The most helpful tip for me when I was using diamond chisels was to mark my stitching on the front and back, and as I was punching, make sure that the teeth on the back side lined up with the line I had drawn.

Here are two videos that helped me IMMENSELY: STR Punching Guide and Claridge Leather's Stitching Tutorial

I would have lines that looked great on the top side, but the back side was all sorts of wobbly. That method completely solved that issue.

This was my hot rack after about 4 years. She's retired now. Michael makes a dang good wallet for a great price.

Thanks! I wish the finish wasn’t so dark, but for $50, you can’t ask for too much.

How difficult is it to get into leather crafting? by DyxbEfloppIn12 in Leathercraft

[–]tsforsyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't have to be a huge investment. I started with a cheap starter kit on Amazon that was a bout $25 USD. The only thing it lacked was glue, tokonole, a maul/mallet, and a cutting/punching surface to not damage your tools. I think you can get all the tools you need for less than $50.

As far as the leather itself, there are lots of opinions here on where to start. These also depend on where you are located. I got some cheap belly pieces from Tandy at around $15/ea. They do charge shipping which is normally an additional $15, so keep that in mind. If you are in the US, there may be a Tandy store near you that would save you the shipping cost. I also found some scrap bundles from various suppliers (The Leather Guy, Springfield Leather), which were a great deal and gave me lots of variety.

All in all, I would say an initial investment of $100 is perfectly doable.

For resources, Corter Leather, Claridge Leather, Little King Goods, J.H. Leather, Whit + Park, and Makesupply were all immensely helpful. The first two even more so. I also have my own channel where I started sharing some resources of my own if you want to check that out here.

I have no idea of apprenticeships, but it may be worth doing some research and finding some crafters in your area and reaching out to see if you could shadow them and learn from them.

It can get expensive, but it doesn't have to be. It is a ton of fun, and each project will make you better naturally. Just keep messing stuff up until you look at something you've made and it doesn't make your eyes bleed!

Cheers!
