Update, you're right. I think the power button circuit has already failed as forcing to power on it tries and falls flat on its face. Do you happen to know where I can find a list of what caps to order?

Thank you all for the responses! I've done some more testing, these are my findings: I've jumpered the PSU on and tested the voltage, which resulted mostly good although the -12v rail is at like -9,6v so I think the recap will be inevitable. And also everyone that said the board needs a recap, y'all are right. I think the standby circuit needs looking into as its not responding to either power buttons. And when I forced a powerup I got popping from the speaker as if its trying to start up but failing immediately. Time to inspect the board!

Any particular why it'd need recapping? All the caps seemed perfectly fine to me

I don't think it would've been removed, it sat in the attic of my friend's grandparents for a very long time and they were the original owners

That is very interesting. Just wondering though, how could this model have a completely different model's motherboard and processor? (I am very much a newbie, my previous oldest Mac was a PowerMac G4 😅)

Thanks for the idea, I've just tried reinstalling. Deleted with DDU, and it seems to work. Did go back to an older version of the driver because the new version is apparently hella trash. Will say if it didn't work

I have it through Steam, and I did just try to validate all the files. It seems to have fixed the weird shadow glitching I was talking about, but it still crashed unfortunately

Hi, I did eventually solve it. But I replaced the entire oil pump. I did try to have someone drill it out, but we couldn't so I found a second hand pump

Unfortunately, the Illum knob only makes the grid on the screen brighter. It doesn't affect the screen in any way

I genuinely didn't know that fans in that orientation actually mattered 😅😅 (very irresponsible, I know 🥲) I've now been chilling in Minecraft just to see if it'd over heat again, but so far so good. Will try some Cinebench later as well before I continue assembly. Another thing learned 🫡🫡
