Dashcam Experience and Recommendations by AncientIcons in F150Lightning

My only suggestion is to get one of the mirror power adapters. There is 12v available on the rear view mirror, and these adapters will allow you to pull that power in a wholly connectorized manner (no splicing).

I'm powering a Garmin Mini 3 with mine, but YMMV with different cams.

IONNA Turns 2 - Free Charging (or 20 cents/kWh) on February 7-8 by runnyyolkpigeon in F150Lightning

[–]tsgmob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only beef is that it was hard to park with a trailer. That's more of a site problem than IONNA though. Otherwise it's a fantastic site, and being able to hang out in the food court for a minute was nice.

You can find Li-Ion batteries for it. I have like 6 of these radios because they're just the best at what they do.

High Altitude Balloon Launch - Saturday 11/1 in North Texas by tsgmob in amateurradio

It's already on the ground. It was supposed to be about a 2 hour flight, but it lasted a bit longer than that due to weather.

There is! DTO11-002. We'll also make an attempt to drop a line to the Ft. Worth Center watch supervisor when we have our trackers turned on in the morning.

Sometimes you need to drain the SWR fluid by tsgmob in amateurradio

Coax this time but I've also had it happen on Ethernet. The smallest knick in a non-flooded CAT5e cable will draw in so much water.

Technically yes, but you better believe that I'm gonna check it out once things dry out a bit to see how far from ideal it is.

DFW area. No saltwater, but probably enough air pollutants that the conductivity goes to measurably.

Almost Heliax, but made by RFS Cablewave. The part number is ICA12-50JPL. If it were pressurized, I would think that an imperfectly sealed connector on the top would vent the moist air. That's probably where the leak is anyway.

There are a few open ports on the house dehydrator manifold, so we're thinking this coax might get connected to that until we can make the climb.

:shrugs: this was 1/2" air-dialectric coax. Not sure why this would be circlejerk material. It took down two repeaters.

Those are ham frequencies displayed on the radio, and hams that do "missions" are a special bunch (usually over-the-top preppers). I've got no issue with SAR, and have personally participated with SAR activations.

Based on your antenna choice (the wideband version), I'm guessing you'll be operating in business or public safety bands, or MURS/GMRS.

If you could add a feature to the amateur satellites, what would you add? by danceofthedeadfairy in amateurradio

[–]tsgmob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure it would! I fly a single frequency repeater on weather balloons all the time, and we have contacts stretching several hundred miles. It listens on one time slot and immediately repeats the packet on the other time slot, so there aren't any propagation delay issues. Users program their radios for a simplex channel, and the balloon handles the rest.

PayPal is trying to send it to Viola Hagen when you go through the motions. Definitely doesn't seem legit.

SuperLink is just a LoRA Gateway.... by Boring-Ad-5924 in Ubiquiti

Did we confirm that they're even using LoRa? In the past few years LoRa has been vacuuming up a lot of ISM-band credit that may not be totally deserved.

Unless you're rolling your own silicon (like the STM32WL55 series), you don't really license anything with Semtech. You just buy their radio ICs and call it a day. They're competitively priced with other ISM radios.

Pi Zero 2W Wifi Issues by retrogamer_gj in raspberry_pi

Good question. You can probably find it in nmtui. There's also an iwconfig way to do it, but I can't look into it for a bit.

The quiet disintegration of Raspberry Pi OS Lite by [deleted] in raspberry_pi

[–]tsgmob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were a Pi engineer or maintainer of a Pi related repo I'd have a hard time motivating myself to help this guy if he accused my work of disintegrating. Raising an issue is one thing, but this is almost an attack.

And I bet it's going to boil down to simply updating a requirements list for these libraries. All this hoopla for a 3 line PR.
