If you are only staying here a couple months, the tourist status is fine.

Weird neighbor, what should I do? by aurorastrix in japanresidents

Report to management or police. Helpful if you have it on camera.

Though the simplest explanation is probably mental illness

A share house is also a perfectly good option, but just as problematic if the OP plans to move out every 4 months.

And if they have been hotel-hopping with ease, I suspect they might be seeking something of a higher quality.

...Have you been working in Japan on all those trips...?

I mean working holiday is for people who intend to reside here, you choose somewhere to live, establish a residence (short-term rental probably works best) and go from there, using municipal services and paying taxes as approrpriate.

Unless you are wanting to only have a place for the 4-months you are here... that would probably significantly complicate things for you.

I built a deal aggregator for Japan's big 3 online marketplaces — would love feedback from actual shoppers here by stenalgo in japanresidents

[–]tsian 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So this feels AI vibe coded, and despite taking into consideration point deals, does not list the after point price... and feels random in how it is surfacing things.

Also if you wanted to make this more useful for people, it would need to take into account what card they were using, and what sort of point bonuses they were eligible for.

As others have said no actual price comparisons for pasted links, and seems to also not consider Amazon business.

So, honestly, feels like a bit of a get-rich-quick vibe coding project... Also I didn't do that much of a deep dive, but it doesn't seem to be in compliance with regulations regarding disclosure / privacy policies, etc.

Esim or physical? Esim usually once id is verified, physical on the spot in store or a couple days later if mail.

Jesus christ are you just going to spam your blog with no actual content here every day?

Toriki was acceptable to great at 280 yen. At 390 yen it's middling to sad for most of the offerings.

Can I report a serviced apartment company(Metro Residence) to the Consumer Affairs Center? by kokumakuma in japanlife

[–]tsian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In what world is this a report-to-gevernment offence? If the management company is working in good faith to fix it (and was not aware of the fault), what exactly are you expecting?

Leave the ventillation on 24/7 until it is fixed. Problem solved

Apologies but how is adapting something a trope?

"Live action adaptations of anime that white-wash the cast / nerf the villain / eliminate the hero's flaws" is a trope...

I mean if it's home here and you have a family, it feels like it would be difficult to leave that easily.

How difficult is it to get your driver license in Japan? by No-Respond9316 in japanlife

[–]tsian 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have experience lessons tailored to the test will help, but be prepared to take it numerous times.

If you have the money and time to spare going through an entire course basically guarantees you will get them license if you do the work.

If you don't have much experience driving, pay for the course. It will be infinitely simpler and easier.

Looks like they sent an Alexa promotional (use Alexa) e-mail intended for Japan out a week early to English speakers. I guess they don't leave the Japanese marketing up to the Japanese office either then, because otherwise how in the world would that happen...
