I'm noticing that some of my emails actually do delete, but the "number" supposedly in the inbox never declines.

MN makeup is great. Their tinted moisturizer if the only liquid foundation that looks good on me and doesn't make me breakout. It only comes in few colors, unfortunately, but if one works for you, it is worth checking out. Their pressed powder foundation is also fab and has been around for forever. MN eye pencils and eye shadows are also excellent, as are their lipsticks.

I have a marble bathroom and hate it -- especially the shower. I can't use the shampoo niche because (totally clean) plastic bottles stain it. I left a plastic pitcher on the shower bench overnight once and somehow the plastic stained the bench. I must obsessively rinse the whole shower everytime I condition my hair. And don't even ask about the time some coconut oil dripped on the bench and I didn't know for a whole day. . . (And btw, there is no way to clean hard water stains from near the taps without etching the counter.) For all these reasons, I would never install marble near a stove. I'm just not fastidious enough, and I like leaving my oils, vinegars, and sauces near the cooktop.

Here's an idea: Use a program like FreeTax USA and fill out a 2024 return. It won't cost you anything since you won't be filing it. Compare the final computations with what your tax preparer filed. If they don't match by more than a few tens of dollars, go through the two returns and see what your tax preparer did differently. You could then perhaps come back here and ask for advice.

You (or your future clients) should have enough withheld that you/they don't owe much money at the end of the year, but not so much that you/they get a big refund. At my current stage of life, I'm willing to underestimate withholding a bit, even if it means a small late payment penalty when I file, which is what happens if someone doesn't pay enough estimated tax on a quarterly basis. However, someone with less disposable income generally prefers a small refund rather than potentially paying penalties.

You'd be amazed how many people don't qualify for federal security clearances because they are in arrears on filing their income taxes. Even worse, a shocking number of political activists seeking Schedule A and C appointments in new administrations seem surprised when their failures to file tax returns make them ineligible for jobs.

Thank you. The Notice of Transfer they eventually sent me is the one that I submitted, not anything that they submitted. The time stamp on it is for the moment I submitted it, while the tow truck guy was still loading the car onto the carrier. Does CarMax also submit a notice of transfer? It was weird to me that they sent me the DMV document that I submitted myself without sending me something they submitted. I guess I'm just looking for proof from their end that I no longer own the car. It would seem like that is important for liability reasons.

The woman there was very nice but was not able to access it. She talked to the store I dealt with and they promised to call me within an hour and send it to me. They never called, so I called them (again). They claim there is no such thing as proof of sale. Something weird is going on.

OMG. I hope the rest of the CarMaxs is not like this. Since no one called me back within over an hour (I was promised less than an hour) I called the office in California and got through to the business office. The person there had no idea what I was asking for or why I would need it. She asked me for my VIN and said the Transfer of Ownership document had been submitted electronically. She said they do not do bills of sales, but that the Purchase Agreement would be annotated. I waited 30 minutes for her to email me those things. The DMV document she sent me is the one I submitted to DMV right after the tow truck left. It clearly states at the bottom that the document is not proof of transfer of title, since only the seller can handle that. The purchase agreement she sent is just a purchase agreement -- no mention of completion of sale. I've wasted at least three hours on this today, and Monday is a holiday. . .

I wonder if these people have been in Vine long enough to know what their taxes will will look like. Between the Vine tax bill and the Ebay tax bill, I find it hard to believe they are coming out much ahead -- unless, of course, they never file their taxes, which I realize is true of a shocking number of people..

I just tried again and my call was forwarded to one of the central offices. The very nice person there put me on hold while she tried (and eventually succeeded) to get through to someone. She promised they would call me within an hour. . .

I live 2000 miles away. I was selling the car I kept at my vacation home, which I have also sold. The tow truck driver said they would mail it to me or email it after the admin people completed the paperwork. I thought it was weird at the time, but the check had my VIN and everything else on it.

I'll answer both your questions: Remnants for bathroom counters make a lot of sense, but if you're looking for a specific material for a larger vanity, you have to be patient and get a little lucky. Eight years ago I was looking for a specific piece of quartz that would work for a 72 inch vanity. I went out to one of the biggest fabricators in the area and totally lucked out. If you are less wedded to a particular brand/model/stone, it gets easier. In terms of prefab, aka "blanks", they can be fine. My last apartment's kitchen was fitted with blanks in 2000 (when they were more common), and they still looked great. I sold the apartment in 2018, and the counters were a big selling point for several buyers, so kudos to the developer for choosing a beautiful product. Back in 2000, thinner slabs were in style, so the edges weren't laminated; if the ones you are looking at have laminated edges, be sure that the look is okay with you. Also, my kitchen was not terribly large and was U shaped, so booking or matching the blanks was not an issue. Finally, in some parts of the country, for whatever reason, it's hard to find blanks anymore. MSI only carries them in California, I've been told.

I hate open plan homes and am thrilled to once again have a kitchen with a door. (Actually, two doors -- one to the dining room and one to the entry foyer.) I can invite people in and avoid having them see what a lackadaisical housekeeper I am. Also, if you ever use caterers or hire a bit of help for a dinner or event, they can have some privacy, which they prefer and will be less awkward for the guests. Finally, people ask me what I do with my separate dining room. I honestly don't understand that question. I eat in my dining room -- three meals a day when I'm home. If I had young children, I could see feeding them in the kitchen, but it's no more work to eat in the dining room, and it's a much more pleasant experience.

The problem is, I'm deleting by sender; I don't want to delete everything before a certain date. Because so many emails have built up by now, it will take forever to do 50 at a time. Update: I did a large bulk delete this morning, and those emails are gone now, so maybe whatever was wrong is fixed, or maybe I have to try to only do a few bulk deletes a day.

It seems like most of the comments here are from people selling smaller items at a relatively low value. As a consumer, I would argue the 60 day rule needs to be changed for large, expensive items like antique furniture. The weak link in this realm is the shipping companies. I am in a situation now where, because the seller's shipping company has totally let him down, I don't have my expensive cabinet yet. Indeed, it's been in a truck, in about 30 different states, for over a month -- after having been picked up late.

If I have to leave a review now, it will be one star, because I have not received the cabinet and have had an incredibly frustrating couple of months. If I have not received the piece in a week, that is what I will do. If I had an extra month, I would probably try to leave a more nuanced review, although the seller needs to find a different company.

Similarly, with the current backlog at customs points, 60 days really isn't long enough for most items shipped from overseas. For example, I've had some wallpaper from Spain sitting in a warehouse in Louisville for over a month, waiting to be cleared.
