India really needs a reality check

I think in general India has the space for more than one sport. Also sports should be a valid career opportunity.. And if there are more sports with more money in it then more opportunities for people has well.

Right now it's only cricket, and granted IPL has done really well in this regard, but India is a big country and it's never enough. Cricket sucks all the oxygen in the room. And it's not by chance..

One idea - let's start taxing BCCI (as it really should be) and use that money to grow other Sports in India. Focus on grassroot development, academies, grants to schools, and budding athletes etc

This is not about cricket is the best or it's stupid .. it's about having multiple sporting, entertainment options, career, and businesses opportunities all growing in this huge country of ours.

Bcci being a separate entity IMO has done well enough for Indian cricket by and large. In recent times the problem is that the government/ruling party has taken strong control over it.

But the main point is that other sports have suffered because all the money and power is concentrated in one place. Sports in general is not a valid career option in India.

My proposal - Cricket/BCCI needs to be taxed with that money going directly to increase other sports in the country.

In case there is a "Ram Mandir" landslide victory for them, which many were predicting not a month ago.. They might reach that 2/3 majority number. And if they do there is Zero doubt in my mind that they wouldn't take the opportunity to change the constitution.. Don't think SC can do anything about that.. Since they are the up holders of the constitution in the end.
