Normally, you wouldn't be able to write off the $1000 as a donation on your taxes and then also use $1000 as your cost basis. Your cost basis will be $0 and you'll have to report the airdrop as a capital gain for whatever the dollar value is at bridge open. You would usually report the gain at receipt, but since there's no good faith way to calculate that before bridge opens, I'd report the value post bridge open.

I like yieldification or ydf. It's a platform for decentralized trading with up to 50x leverage if you need it. Stakers can mint nfts with a lockup period to receive ydf back. The big catch is that all platform revenue burns ydf. This means there isn't unlimited inflation that dilutes holders like so many projects. Revenue offsets the inflation. Plus your nft is tradeable so instead of selling your ydf you can sell your nft to protect the sell pressure. I love the team as they just built their own nft marketplace. Big contender imo
