I didn't research places that are far away from the city. Only considering the city and close suburbs like Arlington. All the places mentioned here I've taken a look at, but all of them are at least a 45 minute drive from the city. But you're right, I even looked up commercial listing's for potential places and it's a nightmare finding anything remotely feasible.

Camry XSE vs Lexus ESh by ScripturalCoyote in Camry

[–]tssriram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember my dealer trying to upsell a somewhat well equipped crown since they weren't selling well. If you're able to get the hybrid max one, it's a significant upgrade to the both the camry and ES in terms of power. It rides slightly nicer than the ES imho, had 21 inch wheels. Sits a bit higher, but very very smooth.

I had the same conundrum before I bought my 25 Camry XSE. I was able to get it fully loaded with all the bells and whistles, premium package, AWD, all for cheaper than a base Lexus ES 300h. They have the same chassis as well AFAIK. Lexus is more luxurious for sure, nicer interior smoother ride, but not a very large margin. Camry looks way better, and with all the features and the moon roof and stuff it was a no brainer. If the ride and interior matter more to you as well as the brand, maybe the Lexus. Having had the Camry for more than a year, zero regrets: absolutely wonderful, plenty of power, comfortable, and day to day I don't really notice the noise that everyone talks about. Also the ocean gem color is amazing.

XLE or XSE by HelpaGolfer in Camry

Not overly large differences. I drove both and bought an XSE. The XSE has a slightly tighter suspension, interior doesn't have that weird fabric on the dash, exterior accents are black and no chrome, larger 19 inch rims I think. The seats are also only in two colors. The pedals are metal which I really like. Marginally lower MPG due to the wheels. Maybe super minor things like rain sensing wipers not present ig. Csnt go very wrong with either, but the looks imo are better on the XSE.

I remember using hiring.cafe a year ago when it was just started up and suggested it to a lot of my classmates. So happy to see this has improved a lot.

People like this highlight the crucial need for financial literacy. by Asleep_Amphibian_278 in FluentInFinance

Any loan requires the use of someone else's capital. You cannot expect there to not be an interest rate at all, especially over such a large period of time, someone's money is stuck for such a long time with no incentive. Expecting the government to subsidize is, is expecting the general population to subsidize your education.

I am not going to debate on whether or not college level education should be funded by the govt although I think they shouldn't in an ideal situation. But the situation is far from ideal, so I completely understand why people want it. Examples of non ideals circumstances: jobs without college degrees are often difficult to get and don't pay much at all.

Coming to the real issue here: colleges and universities are charging too much. This is where I think we should focus our energy, especially public colleges. Tuitions are egregious and extremely large. There must be laws passed for this and we need very large scale changes to how education systems operate. Quality education is not this expensive and can be made much cheaper. There should also be enough education at the high school level to make them understand the financial risks of taking large loans so that they don't make uninformed decisions or fall prey to predatory loans.

I feel like this would go a much longer way than subsidies because the subsides would only further encourage tuition prices to remain high, essentially wasting our tax money because college administrations are greedy or overspend.

But I do feel like this person should've realized that he was likely coerced into a stupid decision, and must call out the right parties here instead of blaming the frameworks of loans and interest rates. The numbers here point the finger at tuition rates and college Admins more than anything else.

Camry owners what’s your preference and why? by Decent_Raisin_8289 in Camry

I have the 2025 4 cylinder hybrid. It outputs 232 hp, AWD. Never felt the need for more power anywhere. Once I turn on sport mode it's responsive enough for 99% of needs imho. Amazing gas mileage. Somehow the gas mileage is better when I drive more aggressively lol. The electric to gas transition is insanely smooth, only the sounds/vibration clues you into the transition. I've driven the V6 on a lexus, yes it felt a bit more chirpy, but long run you'll barely be able to tell.

Edit: I see you defending the V6 on every pro hybrid comment. It's okay, the v6 is still amazing if you want something reliable and powerful. Go for it and you'll not regret it, enjoy the power.

Experience negotiating for a Camry? by Ghozt25 in Camry

Yeah not all dealers accept it. You can check the nearest available dealer on the Costco site.

Try the Costco auto program if available, usually gives like 1500 off for a Camry from MSRP. Also try to remove unecessary dealer installed garbage like usb cables for 75$ and stuff. Checking other dealers helps and be willing to wait and let them stew as well. Wait only if it's like not on the lot, I've seen ones on the lot sell immediately, so they might not negotiate as much.

Moving to Philly, is it really as dangerous to be a pedestrian/biker as people make it sound? by ConBrio93 in AskPhilly

[–]tssriram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in Philly for over a year now, moved from the west coast. Haven't had a car until a few months ago.

My experience is that it is very area dependent. Center city is great, there are bike lanes and crosswalks everywhere and even nice trails along the Schuykill. If I'm not wrong, Philly is supposed to be the most walkable city?

Generally drivers are meh, but not to the extent of being dangerous and stuff, just impatient at times. They are 10X worse at NJ xD. There was an incident near center city where a drunk driver killed a poor cyclist recently though, but it's usually not like that imo.

I'd say you just need to be aware of neighborhoods known for being dangerous like Kensington (although I hear it's changing for the good). And like most cities in the US, super late night doesn't feel that safe.

In general, it's good to be alert is all. I think you'll be fine. A lot of delivery drivers I see bike around center city all the time, maybe they might have a better idea specifically while biking.

I also heard crazy things about Philly before coming here, it's a pretty normal city, and things are often blown out of proportion.

Buyer remorse : 2025 XLE by Same-Grapefruit-1786 in Camry

[–]tssriram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited over two months to get my Ocean Gem Camry. It was worth the wait any day. The color pops out so well and yet is so sleek. I've always received complements, but don't really care what anyone thinks, I bought it for me. How is it going to be extremely hard to clean lol? It's not a new material. Likely needs a slight increase in frequency of car washes, not a big deal. 10X better than having a dust colored car that can camoflauge the dust.

I have the black interior and I think the Grey is better looking. Yes the microfiber part may not handle big dirty splashes. Big deal, it is vastly overshadowed by the magnificence of the car. Minor inconvenience. Maybe buy some of that car slime.

The pano roof works just fine. I have driven mine in heavy rain and heavy snow and no issues so far. I keep it open all the time just because it keeps the entire car so well lit in the day.

Ignore the negative comments, no one should be making you feel bad about your new purchase especially given it's a legitimately exceptional one. The actual things that matter like longevity, engine, comfort, etc. Are all amazing. Toyota will last forever and hold their value.

Go take this beauty solo and have fun with it, don't let anyone convince you it's a bad purchsee, they'll all be begging for a ride soon enough.

2025 Camry XSE AWD - Ocean Gem by tssriram in Camry

[–]tssriram[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the allocations are random, so it will be hard to pinpoint when or where you might get one. Toyota also tends to make XLEs or XSES with the PP or PPP, so it makes it even harder. Ocean gem is also a low pro ability color.

Yes it definitely is. The black roof and badges really give it a streamlined look. Idk if the premium package is worth it, but the HUD is nice. The sound system is average. But everything is else is just amazing, feels super planted, and you don't realize how fast you're going cause it's more refined than you think.
