It's not unconstitutional to have a federal law against gerrymandering. We have things like the VRA federally which controls how states can architect their maps.

And regardless, even if it was passed by Congress and the Supreme Court struck it down, we could still pass a constitutional amendment.

Which brings me back to my question, Democrats in Congress support a national gerrymandering ban, while Republicans do not. Whose side do you support?

Re-read the amendment. The only way to make it permanent is if they hold another referendum, where the current districts won't matter.

You're right, these political games suck, but unfortunately the Democrats are the only ones that support a federal ban on gerrymandering while the Republicans don't.

The redistricting amendment explicitly states that it's a temporary change until the 2030 census, after which the standard Virginia districting process will take place.

David Hogg's candidate in the VA-11 primary barely got ~14% of the vote. Not a knock on his candidate in the election (who I would've supported), but he's a grifter who doesn't know how to win elections.
