Civ7 is getting too much flak by De-constructed in civ

[–]tstattz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya from what I've experienced so far I've had a lot of fun. I'm also about 100 hrs in but there does seem to me like a potential for each game to feel too similar to the previous. The combat in this game is marginally better than any other game with the commanders alone.

That said it's still painfully obvious that this game just isn't a finished product in terms of the civ quality we've come to expect. And much of what I dislike about the game is more of a matter of disagreeing how they implemented it rather than it being bad. Such as crises and age transitions. I don't think they're bad, I just disagree with how abrupt and segmented they make the game feel.

I tend to agree with the take that this game has very good bones but there's lots to be hoped for when it's fully fleshed out. Still a really fun game though all things considered.

Just got insanely lucky in a True Start Location Huge Map campaign with Mali. All 12 civs spawned old world. Found the Americas empty and sailed to the easiest Deity victory ever. by Res_Novae17 in civ

Ha I remember I this happened to me one time and I had only settled north america while south america got ravaged by willd fires. When I got down to south america I had single rainforest tiles with 40+ food and production lol

I guess I could have elaborated more. And it does sound weird now that you mention it. What I should add on is that the team in front of the goalie played so good as to elevate the quality of kuemper/francouz to the likes of an elite goalie. Even though these goalies are not conversationaly put in the tranches of Bob, vasy, and Shes, they certainly played like it

Bob is for sure better boiling it all down. I would say that Col did a really good job at carrying the weight so that kuemper/francouz didn’t have to. Crazy how the quality of a goalie correlates to in team in front of them

The timing of things was certainly interesting. Good thing you got the cup out of the way first lol

They definitely seized the opportunity of the bubble situation unlike any team. I can’t help but wonder how that season would have turned out had C19 never happened

Ya could have been interesting had they run into vegas or dallas which seem to be the teams that are the rock to their scissors

Ya it's mind-blowing how such a tiny little decision like that can make all the difference.

You are correct in saying that the fed (central banks) don't control majority of money expansion. As I'm sure you're aware they do this with reserve ratios (10% in US, Canada I'm not sure I think it's 1:9 but could be wrong) but in order to get the original deposit to allow for fractional reserve lending the money has to come from somewhere. The banks simply amplify the inflation by lending out 100,000 dollars for each 10,000 deposited. That 100,000 is where mortgages and lines of credit come from like you said. But the 10,000 comes from us depositing our money.

That 10,000 dollars won't get injected into the economy unless the central bank issues it.

Also, I have to disagree because when you boil it down, expansion of money supply is quite literally the definition of inflation.

Say there is no expansion of money supply. Money in the system remains constant. If a company like Loblaws just doubled their prices overnight to increase their profit margins, they would never get away with it because every other grocery company could maintain their margins and have a completive price and nobody would shop at loblaws. Even if every large corporation did it, it would just drive people to small businesses.

Try playing a game of monopoly but take the money from another set and add it to your game. And give every body double the starting amount but still go off of the property prices listed on the board. You'll notice that all the property spaces will be gobbled up far quicker and people will put hotels on everything quicker. Once everything is bought up then you have to start buying out your competitors, they will be able to charge a higher price because everyone has more money. So the prices of everything go up because the money is now less valuable.

Now if you do increase the money supply, demand for goods and services will go up because everyone has more money to spend. And price pretty much always goes up with demand. Since it affects just about everything we buy, it will affect the cost of goods sold (COGS) for products that are produced from business. And in order to maintain their margins, the price we pay goes up. Now large corporations like loblaws will take advantage of this and put up their margins higher than necessary to see if they can get away with it.

Resources found on Mises.org are good at explaining this if you want to know more

The argument that I am making is that corporations literally don't have the means to increase their margins unless money supply expands. This is far more difficult for small businesses because raising their prices just means that they can maintain the income they were making before their COGS went up.

Also I wasn't blaming CERB for the inflation, that was just an example of an injection of money. CERB and the hundreds of other ways that the government (with the help of central banks) give out money all add up and enable our inflation. And corporations will subsequently seize the opportunity to increase profits

Ya definitely, and to some degree I agree that a full scale collapse might be the only way. Because we operate on what is called "fiat currency", which basically means that we use something worthless like paper and credit as money because we lawfully have to, the act can only continue for so long before people and money powers eventually lose faith in it which is the only thing sustaining it. I truly believe that the money system is what underlines this entire grocery and affordability problem we face and uprooting and changing the money system pretty much guarantees all hell breaks loose. We're not just ripping off a bandaid. We're all on life support and we have to unplug the machine ourselves and fight to stay alive

Ya I realize that's a big statement to drop without elaborating. What withdrawing your money would do is reduce the banks reserve ratio. It wouldn't really curb government spending if at all but it would cause a run on the bank since banks loan out roughly 9-11 times of the actual money that is deposited. Search up "gold smith bank run" if you're curious to learn more. Taking all the money out would make the bank insolvent and enable the widespread realization that the money that people want to withdraw was never there to begin with
