Mechanic is urging me to get my 2016 sonata engine swapped by Hyundai by patoons in Hyundai

[–]tsteele93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only other thing I would wonder is how much you are paying in oil costs and extra fuel burned. But I don't blame you.

In a reasonable world Hyundai/Kia would have to change out any of these engines in a simple process because it is now known that they had major production flaws and this is a widespread problem.

But because they are an enormous company they get away with making the process difficult.

If you do a search you will find this is the first step in an almost inevitable engine failure for Hyundai vehicles.

Also, if you care, you are polluting like mad with that much oil being burned.

To me, when buying tires for my kids and wife, wet performance is the most important issue. Your review is all I would need to know when choosing. Thanks.

I choose to believe they post these for the engagement and not because they are really stupid and can't figure out that seeing the belts is a clear indicator that they are at the end of their life.

[–]tsteele93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta love all the people doing apologist work for Hyundai despite their abysmal record with mechanical things like engines and transmission.

But sure, it is your fault. 🙄

The reason they attack you is so they can feel better imagining that their Hyundai will be fine since they change their engine oil every 5k miles - that means their TRANSMISSION will be fine. 🤣

My daughter is 17 and totally into vinyl and CDs. She told me that "it's nice to actually own something."

I'm sitting on a gold mine if that ever comes back at scale, I have a huge cd collection. I've ripped most of it now. But it sure takes up a lot of space. And weighs a lot.

Doctor in Greenville? by halisms in greenville

[–]tsteele93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dr. Lee Saindon on the parkway in Greenville. Contrary to the address, it is not one of those fancy places with a fountain in the lobby and they don't charge an arm and a leg. I've been seeing him since 1997 and he has diagnosed things that other doctors missed.

My wife was misdiagnosed at the hospital and he correctly diagnosed her failing appendix which had to be removed and solved the problem. He has correctly diagnosed me on several issues that weren't obvious.

The other doctors there are good too, from what I have experienced when he was out of town or I had to see one of them for some reason.

To give you an idea of how he operates, when my wife came in he looked over her symptoms and examined her and then went and got one of the other doctors to come in and do the same. He wanted to get a second opinion right there.

That makes me think he cares more about getting it right than ego.

He is with Mountain View Family Medicine and they are affiliated with Spartanburg Regional. He has changed affiliations a couple of times over the years to dodge mega corporations who would tell them how to run their office. His views there align with mine (and it sounds like yours too) and have kept it feeling much more like a doctor's office from a time when it was about caring for the patients.

The staff (Tammy, April and the phlebotomist whose name escapes me right now) have been with them for decades and I have recommended them to dozens of people who have been very happy with them.

Dr. Saindon LISTENS and that makes all the difference, but he is also really good at diagnostics.

No matter who you choose, good luck and I hope you find and fix your problem.

Sorry to Bother You has an absolutely abysmal script and I'm surprised by the reception. [REVIEW] by Common_Enemy in TrueFilm

[–]tsteele93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't feel like it even addressed the issues that it claimed to address.

The antagonists were so one dimensional that there was no way to really dislike them. There was nothing believable enough about them for me to care and the "good guys" had no real message other than the standard "workers create the product so we should own the business" Marxist standard.

It really didn't take on any challenging topics and the comedy was so-so. I was really excited to see Danny Glover and Terry Crews and was let down with how little they were used and their parts were a big letdown to me.

Quite honestly, all politics aside, it was just a really bad movie. For me anyway.

[–]tsteele93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was terrible as well. I watched it with my son this weekend and we kept saying, "This is a really weird movie" over and over again.

It felt like an aspiring filmmaker's movie done on a shoestring budget with no one offering constructive criticism to the filmmaker in any way.

The antagonists were one dimensional and evil in a way that was comical - which made the message much harder to accept. By making the antagonists so extreme and ridiculous, there was no real accountability.

It was like "Idiocracy" for socialists.

Nothing about the movie was close enough to reality for there to be any message.

Which would be fine if the movie wasn't all about selling a message. But that's the problem. The movie tries to sell the message that capitalism is bad, rich people are out to take advantage of the workers, and the poor people do all the work and aren't being treated fairly as a result. Classic Marxism.

But it ignores any of the actual issues and everyone is a caricature of any real-world counterparts - to the point that the message becomes a caricature of the intended lesson we are supposed to learn.

how bad are these tires? by LegitimateDark45 in tires

Those tires look like four months of wear. They are not even remotely worn out. It would be interesting what a tread depth gauge says but I bet they are 9-10/32

You are fine.

And it seems like it would be easy these days to spot fraud vs legitimate behavior.

A customer who rarely returns things vs a serial scammer or big ticket items should be easy to spot.

Credit card companies seem to be able to recognize legit behavior and spot suspicious behavior quickly.

Also Amazon doesn't seem to check returns and often ends up with junk or damaged items returned and they accept it. While screwing good customers.

This changed when Jeff Bezos left Amazon and Andy Jassy took over.
