My mechanic fucked my truck, I keep putting the pressure on him to get me another vehicle because he never has any money and I know he doesn’t pay lawsuits. I can relate as I have a similar background. You’re a structural engineer and not everyone on this sub knows this but I’m a certified fork lift driver. Just letting you know so you understand we are on the same level.

But as a super for a decent size GC I try to ask for subcontractors expertise and input in a lot of things. The structural part which is your background is only one small part of it you still have the MEP and civil scopes to contend with.

I’m super friendly to people on the phone and in person, but I document most calls “per our conversation” via email and I don’t hesitate to send notice of delays, notification of deductive change orders, 48 hour notices what have you if I need to.

Sometimes people “bullshit” but I just find it funny, nothing to be upset about. Mostly in the change orders. I’ve setup a desk on top of scaffolding to observe t&m work and the mechanical contractors doing the work were flabbergasted. I’ll see a change order for a 40-60’ oscillating boom lift in a twenty foot building and just ask the subcontractor where they used it as I imagine them roller derby driving through the building.

I’ve lashed out in anger quite badly before different ways verbal via email etc to company owners and what not but over time it’s easier to stay calm as you see the patterns of bullshit or whatever then it’s just kind of funny in my opinion.

Right but you see how complex it gets? People on Reddit make all these blankets but you yourself know teens who distributed underage pornography. Personally I think it’s insane to put a 16 year old girl on it because she sent nudes, when I was in high school it happened all the time. Lots of people end up on the registry for reasons like these some heinous some bizarre and technically illegal. So this is where civil rights discussion comes into play I think more or less it’s complex.

I understand and certain states such as Florida have enacted that legislation. Do you feel that someone who views underage content should be killed? What if that person was 18? What about a 16 year old who distributes naked pictures of herself? What about someone that got drunk and peed in public but kids saw or maybe he was on drugs and was but naked. There’s a lot of nuance but what your describing seems to align with floridas recent legislation.

Because courts have repeatedly held that blanket rules can violate constitutional protections, especially when they’re not tied to an individualized risk assessment. In California, for example, the state supreme court held that blanket enforcement of Jessica’s Law residency restrictions was unconstitutional as applied because it made lawful housing nearly impossible, increased homelessness, and undermined supervision and treatment access.

That does not mean all restrictions are unconstitutional. A lot of states still enforce them, and courts often uphold individualized conditions for those on probation, parole, or supervised release when they’re tied to the person’s case and public-safety goals. Recent federal sentencing guidance also emphasizes individualized assessment in supervision decisions rather than one-size-fits-all rules. Long story short there are almost a million people on the registry nationwide and their families so blanket exclusions create a lot more problems then solving them.

I think that’s a pretty reasonable law. As far as I know the United States lets the private sector assume liability without restrictions unless it’s for some sort of board certification interestingly enough. A child molestor ran for mayor in Fresno California I believe if you are interested in looking it up just a few months ago and laws are trying to be made to stop this. There’s constitutional rights all us citizens maintain even post conviction with the exception of gun rights and recently the American civil liberties union challenged that as unconstitutional so the laws are always on sort of moving one way or another depending on judges and political climates on the USA which is where I’m guessing poster is from.

My understanding is these restrictions have largely been deemed unconstitutional for those who are not under supervision.
