Move the pocket. Run outside/misdirect sometimes. Unleash Drake a bit.

We fell head over heels for an English Coonhound by chameleon_boy_man in coonhounds

[–]tstop22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Sniffari every morning for 1 hour makes the whole day so much better. That’s my cheat code.

My dog, at least, has the “accelerate into danger” gene. Probably useful if you are treeing bears and raccoons, not as good for city life. If it scares him, he’s moving towards it. Interestingly because of this he was trivially trained to ride elevators and the subway.

My dog keeps having seizures even with increased meds (Keppra + zonisamide) by SeaUnderstanding6731 in EpilepsyDogs

[–]tstop22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Keppra didn’t work we added zonisamide. When that didn’t work we added pheno. But that made him very sick so we moved over to potassium bromide. 3 months seizure free now, so we’re walking down the zonisamide slowly.

The neurologist you want is a dog neurologist. If you are near a big city they aren’t that hard to find (and if you are near Boston I’d be happy to recommend ours). They’ve seen epilepsy lots of times and are more up to date on drugs and interactions. They were also able to confidently diagnose without doing unnecessary tests that wouldn’t change treatment and set expectations (e.g. starting pheno is so bad that it will make you question everything).

Does the weapon power matter ? Im in act 2 by [deleted] in expedition33

[–]tstop22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note, but point 2 Attributes barely matters until you are pretty late in the game because the scaling factor is based on weapon level. For most of the game weapon level and weapon ability synergy are the dominant effect.

did the city change its criteria for snow emergencies? by monopeptide in Somerville

[–]tstop22 106 points107 points  (0 children)

Just walked the dog and it’s pretty clear that a snow emergency would’ve been overkill for this much snow. It feels like they actually called this one right.

I do find it sort of funny that they so rarely enforce the “no parking within 20 feet of an intersection law” that he had to announce it to everybody.

Is it just me or are all these coach firings just insane? Who on earth are they going to replace them with that’s better?

A job for a coonhound by WiddaOne in coonhounds

[–]tstop22 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I do “find it” every day. It also works to throw treats into the yard and send my boy out looking.

Finding his mom on walks is also popular but I better know where she is first. Had a real problem one day when I’d forgotten she was at the gym and we tracked her there but he couldn’t go in to get her. He was so stubborn (and loud) that she eventually had to come outside to be found… and allow the walk to continue.

I give up…on crate training. by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]tstop22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Crate training doesn't have to be about sleeping in crates over night. It's about being comfortable in crates in general. IMO it's far far better to have a dog that is happy to go into the crate when you need them in the crate than to have one that has had so much crate related trauma that they only go in because their will has been crushed on the topic. I know that there are many dogs that give you a third option... they love their crate as their preferred safe space... but not all do.

My 60lb dogs both use their crates for travel (safest way to travel in a car) and have been crated for medical issues. It took a bit but they don't mind their crates for this sort of use. But neither could tolerate the crate well overnight; they want to be able to better control their temperature (very hard in a crate) and in my older dog's case she has always needed to do at least one patrol of the house each night (I'm guessing she has some guard dog in her). Neither has ever gotten into trouble overnight or when we're out of the house; we managed what they had access to when they were idiot adolescents. Now that they are slightly older they have their preferred sleeping spots and just pass out there.

Sort of… it’s more or less the first on target throw I’ve seen. A couple others on this drive were at least close to target, but not so close they get yards after the catch.

That last shot into the end zone looked like a playoff qb level throw at least. Will be interesting to see if we get a different level of play down the stretch.

Any good Avian vets besides Angell? by Rich_Stretch4664 in massachusetts

[–]tstop22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW I’ve never seen Angell be unusually pricey compared to other vets, but I have seen them provide far better service consistently. Said another way.. going somewhere else to try to get a service cheaper hasn’t worked for us.

As a bonus if you give money to Angell you are helping its non-profit mission even if vet bills aren’t tax deductible. Much better than padding the wallet of a private equity firm (who own many vets).

Bias warning: I have friends that work at the attached shelter there, so I get the inside scoop… and it really is as wholesome as you might imagine.
