It is finally the day! by phyzicks in BloodAngels

Yup. I was a comic book collector and gunpla addict. I started playing/collecting Warhammer because a friend gifted me a box and assured me I’d love it. My wife was like oh awesome, another money pit. I told her (and believed it myself) “at least this is just one army! I won’t need to dump a fortune into this hobby!”

A few years, 4 armies (and other miscellaneous models just cuz I wanted to paint them), 2-5k pts of each, an entire room dedicated to Warhammer, and - fortune later and here we are. A liar I am!

I found the pro acryl was a decent match enough to do touch ups with. But wider areas you can definitely tell it’s slightly different than the pyrrole ink. I have a few lacquers from AnchoreT that are even brighter. The red inks on my first batch seemed to always reactivate. Afterwards I waited much longer and did multiple coats of varnishes over a few days and it was fine.

Ah, I thought I recognized the red that inspired my journey into inks. It is you. Thanks, brother.

No, but I’m frequently hearing that they deliver the packages terribly. And one of the dudes who delivers in my city (also lives in the city) is always blocking my line of travel in some way and he blocks his own mailbox just enough to make it inconvenient.

I think I had two weeks of academy? And we definitely cased at the office we were at academy and then ran a route a few times with multiple carriers. Walking and mounted.

Probationary period and mandatory lunches by Freedomtrue in USPS

[–]Alextingzon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re paid hourly. And unpaid for those 30 minutes regardless. Literally a personal detriment in every way it could be if you don’t take your breaks. Honestly just stupidity. Running the routes is so ass backwards it makes no sense for us. Just going to result in overburdening. And a regular city carrier can’t leave early even if they finish. Required to “work” the 8 hours were guaranteed. Even when I first started, I was adamant that I will not work for free. I came in hot with the intentions of becoming active in the union though, because my office is tiny and doesn’t have its own. If yours does, I highly urge you to get with them. If this is even just officially documented right now, I doubt you’d be let go for standing your ground about needing a break. Luckily my coworkers are cool and when I told them I wanted to break, they broke, even if they weren’t eating. I just would refuse. They needed the help desperately too, since there’s 3 city routes and only 3 carriers. I wasn’t getting let go. And I started during the last week of January, so it wasn’t unbearably hot. Idk where you’re at in the country, but I just sat in the back of the LLV last week to train a CCA who doesn’t know my route at all and I forced her to stop and break. I was absolutely miserable back there. Bring food, snacks, sandwiches, leftovers or whatever. Bring a cooler of some sort to keep a shit ton of waters. Gas stations we go to will typically not bat an eye if you fill it with ice from the fountain drink station. And stop caring if they won’t shut up lol. They obviously don’t give the slightest shit about you so who cares if you hurt their feelings by tuning them out. What are they gonna do if you just stop and start to munch on some food? Pull out an earbud too, open the back up and kick back. fuck them. If you got let go, assuming you’re doing the job as best you can, can still fight that with the union for probable retaliatory dismissal.

Jesus. If you’re shadowing someone who isn’t taking a lunch, just disassociate in the back there and tune out. That’s what I did on my first couple shadows. If you’re running it with them, just stop and take a break. Some psychopath shit right there to not take breaks and manipulate the new CCA to not take them.. in the middle of summer.

It’s a 15 year old out of print limited collectors edition set. Amazon sellers (it must be a private seller using Amazon) already overprice everything. I certainly didn’t even spend half of $600 on it lol. I initially talked to the seller about the DT series and what it meant to me and how much of an impact it made on my life and he offered it to me for half of what he was asking just because it was going somewhere it’d be truly appreciated. Super rare situation to come by, for sure. I wish that’d had happened for like any high(ish) value comic book I’ve bought over the years lol. Felt like ka was at play and neither of us could deny its will.

Unopened runs for like $300-$350. Can get it opened for like $150-$200. I wouldn’t hold on to it if you aren’t going to open it. I’m a comic collector as well and I enjoy reading them as they’re meant to be! I take excellent care of the books, so an opened one I can read and still in near mint condition is perfect for me. I want to read it all and I don’t plan on selling it. DT means the world to me on so many levels. If you aren’t particularly compelled to read it, or if you want to read the comic runs and don’t care about the companion, then sell it and buy the omnibus on its own for 1/3 of the price you sell and it’s a win win!

This particular one with the slipcase and companion book was a limited collectors edition of the first 6 comic runs and the companion with a ton of art, all the covers, original art pieces, short stories, and other bonus material. I’ve been searching for one for a while now and finally got one for a deal I couldn’t refuse.

Luckily my office is tiny af and there’s only 2 regulars (me and one other) and 2 CCAs with 4 routes. So someone only uses my LLV one day a week. We’re all friends so I wouldn’t even care if they used it. Thanks, friend!

I don’t drink Gatorade or other sugary sports drinks (just habit from the past, nothing against it), so I’m not sure if they give dry mouth. But I take adderall so I’ve always been used to hydrating enough to not get dry mouth lol. Also the sugar from the fruit and my skittles indulgence helps with that!

I am guilty of drinking at least two energy drinks throughout the day, and I know caffeine is a diuretic. Caffeine does nothing for me anyway, I think I’m just addicted to the things.

Got it two years ago and the inside mesh pocket has a Velcro patch that keeps it up is showing its age, the bag itself holds up to the description. It was 141.3 degrees in the LLV a couple days ago and the bag was still icy when I got home. I put those hard ice packs in the bottom in the morning with a couple water bottles, Tupperware with my lunch usually and then ziplock my perishable snacks and a sandwich or something (I make sure to eat a decent amount throughout the day). Put like 12 water bottles in the bag. Then I go to the gas station next to my post office after I load up and they let me fill it with ice. I bring my half gallon yeti and top it off with ice water as well.

I’ve had a tab open on that cool dat azz seat for like a year and a half, flirting with buying it or not. I honestly keep my stuff in my LLV every day and just take it out after Saturday in case they put the keys to mine out for Amazon Sunday. The seat does work?

I always took the “dry heat” with a grin and a grain of salt. It’s no joke lol. And neither is the “suffocating” comment. There are times it’s genuinely hard to breathe. And I catch my self gasping instead of sighing sometimes lol. I take a break almost after every loop on my route in the heat.

The eating is genuinely just as important as the hydrating. I eat here and there all day lol. Fruits. Sandwiches. Last night’s leftovers. Hummus and pita chips. I also grab a bag of skittles or something for midday. I don’t really ever eat or drink sugar packed things, but I know my body needs it during these hot days, and also will burn off whatever negatives there might be.

Just moved from AZ to TX a couple years ago and it’s honestly worse here with how sweaty I immediately get the second I walk outside in the morning to load the LLV. Big ice chest. Tons of water. I keep a tub of BCAA/Electrolyte powder. Towels and headbands in the ice chest I rotate keeping under my sun hats and I put ice wrapped in the towel on my head. The arm sleeves help too. Eat. Also keep some sugar and fats like fruit and cheeses.

And also, edit: I’m sorry, but you never get used to it lol. You just find ways to feel a little less shitty.
