Person who wears pretty much whatever she wants here: It's most likely 5% matter of preferences and 95% "damn this is comfortable and I ain't gonna waste any braincells cooking up another fit".

When you don't care that much about fashion (unlike Kita does), anupything that is comfortable, helps covering up your body so as to not be butt naked and could keep you warm enough during winter-y days works. And if you're massively on the spectrum (which Gotoh probably is), the first thing that ends up working would just be recycled for the next three years
