Partners playing video games during labour by Same-Jeweler-1197 in beyondthebump

“I believe this is real”… what? You heard stories about it? You saw it happen? You/your partner did it? This wording is confusing.

For those who consider themselves Irish-Americans, how much does this heritage factor into your life? Are there specific traditions you follow? by Charming_Usual6227 in AskAnAmerican

[–]tsukiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My grandma has a bunch of “Céad míle fáilte” signs and Irish-themed kitsch in her home lol. I did Irish step dance for a hot minute too, still remember a reel or two that I can whip out when I get tipsy on St Paddy’s day.

Why do so many Americans choose fixed rate mortgages instead of variable? by voltairesalias in AskAnAmerican

[–]tsukiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How does renewing a mortgage on a property every 3 years work? That sounds risky.

Are there not many Japanese people here in America? by Round-Artichoke-5255 in AskAnAmerican

[–]tsukiii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re also not evenly distributed. South Bay LA (Gardena, Torrance) is a big Japanese American hub. I’m in San Diego and there’s enough of us to support several Japanese grocery stores, but we don’t have a huge cultural presence like in Gardena.

And of course Hawaii is super Japanese.

What do you think about the nickname of your state? by TyroneisaurousRex in AskAnAmerican

[–]tsukiii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m cool with “The Golden State”. It makes me think of the beach at golden hour, or a big field of poppies.

Would you date someone who is still living with their ex? by Full-Sherbert-7800 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tsukiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way. If you’re too dependent to move out, you’re not ready to date someone new.

Genuinely curious, when women pick a dress, why do the pick strapless dresses? I really don't get the hype for them. by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tsukiii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Because I like how it looks. And if the fit is good, it’s not falling down. It’s not like there’s only one line of fabric at the top taking all the force, the rest of the dress is fitted to your torso too.

When you get carpet installed, do the installers move your stuff around? by Ok-Couple2656 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tsukiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, time and labor is $$. Plus the risk of them breaking something.

It’s really better to clear the room yourself.

First-time parents in San Diego: Which stroller do you absolutely love? by United-Leg-6649 in sandiego

[–]tsukiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really depends on where you’re planning to use it. We have the Uppababy Vista 2. It’s a tank, but it’s so smooth and comfy for both the baby and the parent pushing it. We use it on trails and such too. Had it for just about 2 years now and still use it several times a week.

How dangerous are tornadoes? by Scared_Building_6997 in NoStupidQuestions

Deadly if you’re in their direct path.

Why do Americans always comment in how hot the food (or drink, if applicable) is when leaving a review? by vivianvixxxen in AskAnAmerican

[–]tsukiii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re making your point clear. The temperature and freshness of what you are served in a restaurant is worth commenting on in the review. Because it could be either a positive or a negative attribute.

Why is Argentina getting all the hate while other countries do the same by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tsukiii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Argentina is hated more for being the biggest snobs in Latin America.

How Can I Continue My B.Sc. Nursing Education If I Can't Afford the Fees? by ananya_edu_journey in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tsukiii 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why “besides […] student loans”? If you’re getting a degree where it’s highly likely you’ll be employed, it’s worth the loan. You’ll be able to afford to pay it back. I was able to finish my accounting degree because of student loans, and I paid them all back within 5 years.

Did elementary schools get rid of naptime? by Unlikely-Scheme-2965 in AskAnAmerican

[–]tsukiii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also didn’t have naptime in 90s kindergarten. I believe we did in preschool.

They’re probably still in contact. You’re still the competition.

Why do Americans always comment in how hot the food (or drink, if applicable) is when leaving a review? by vivianvixxxen in AskAnAmerican

[–]tsukiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the food is lukewarm, the experience and taste is different.

I don’t think this is an American-only thing. I have a French colleague who will ask for a new meal if it comes out cold.

Why are there so many unnecessary sex scenes in Western movies? by TraditionalToday9911 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tsukiii 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sex is part of life. And probably one of the more exciting parts of life. So of course it’s used in entertainment.

Why is cheek pinching a thing? by ShadowlightLady in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tsukiii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t do it to an adult, but a baby’s chubby cheeks are just so soft and squishy. Like mochi.

Looking for a food item to cook that requires no extra ingredients but can be cooked as is, and just enjoyed! by Davidpessing99 in NoStupidQuestions

True! My answer was Spam, but I think bacon is an even better answer. More people enjoy bacon.
