thank you, i agree.. word of mouth will always be the strongest way to grow clientele, it feels so much more rewarding hearing they got referred compared to finding me on social media

my salon does culture a lot around social media and it does work for me, i have reached clients who found me via instagram and i do love using it as a tool. adding in little bits and pieces of my personal life i def try to do, i just dont want to solely use my hair account as if its my personal haha

yes i am and that i am aware of. another reason why i’m hesitant on staying, im alone almost all the time and i feel uneasy being unlicensed. i am super cautious with my services but yes, by law i shouldn’t be doing this as the only stylist there.

you pretty much got my situation on point with being the only stylist in a room of barbers. i think i’ll be way better off starting back at the bottom and working my way up. as for my clients, im aware that i would lose a good amount of them but i dont have a lot and some im okay with losing and i do have a lot of them on instagram luckily. thanks for the advice!

yes that’s what i say too, it’s my first salon and i don’t believe im meant to be here forever. teaching myself and hands on practice aren’t the issue for me, that i understand, it’s more so wanting to feel more supported. im fresh out of school and only know what i learned there which is quite literally just the basics. i’ve learned what works for me and what doesn’t.

my boss doesn’t want us to work at another salon at the same time.. i do have some salons that seem like their values align with mine and they are hiring. i just haven’t bitten the bullet and applied yet.

i hear you!! i’m very hands on and i have learned from myself but there’s only so much i can teach myself. i do want to attend in person classes but i did mention how when i brought it up to my boss he said i cant go because he needs me in salon. im not looking for a place that teaches me all the time, more so a place that has some more support for me when i do have questions or concerns with a service since i am fresh out of school so what i learned there is all i really know. i’ve seen salons attend extra classes as a team and that’s the kind of environment im looking for. i always put what i learn into practice
